Last night was another one of those moments, that’s for sure. The caterer, Bob Bailey, from our wedding (and other McKinley & Assoc events) has taken a liking to Bennett and myself and gave us quite the hookup. REO Speedwagon, Styx and .38 Special are all touring together this summer and they came last night to Wheeling for a concert on the island. Bob was hired to cater for the concert and he snuck us in with him backstage. Basically, we helped him set up the random last minute things and we got to pretend like we were there for a reason.
We got to see how crazy behind-the-scene stuff is during concerts, with all the roadies, security, etc. The BEST part was that we got to hang out with some of the band members!! We didn’t act like true fans and try and get pictures with them (I kinda wish we had) but we totally got to serve apple pie and cheesecake to the band members of REO Speedwagon. Like I said…we were posing as workers there so nobody tried to throw us out. I think I’m still a little star struck. Haha.
After a little while, Bennett and I went up to the stands and watched the rock ‘n rollers perform. It’s amazing that, after 30+ years, these guys still got it! Seriously…the lead singer of REO has to be in his mid to late 50’s and he was jumping around like a 20-something young guy.
What a cool concert, though. I wish this new generation of music would try and rival the music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
