Yesterday, Bennett turned a whopping age of 24! (Okay, okay…so I’m 24 already but that doesn’t count.) He stopped in during my lunch break so I could treat him to a birthday lunch…or so I tried. Susan Haddad, the owner of our favorite local restaurant, has known Bennett since he was born and after she realized it was his birthday she filled our bellies with some super yummy sandwiches, crepes and dessert crepes. Bennett’s dessert even came out with a lit sparkler on it and he was given that *amazing* alligator hat. Doesn’t he look thrilled to be wearing that?
For his gift, I was going to treat Bennett to a trip to Pittsburgh for vinyl record shopping and eating at his favorite sandwich shop up there, Primanti Brothers. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling very well so I opted out of the trip and Bennett went up with his friend Eric. I’m not sure if he missed me or not because he and Eric were able to geek-out about records and Primanti sandwiches and I wasn’t there to roll my eyes at them. Haha. That’s what wives are for, right? We’ll see what he’s coming home with….who knows what music he’s come up with.
Other things that happened today were quite out of the ordinary – at least for me. David held a press conference at the Maxwell Centre to announce his candidacy for the 1st District Congressional seat in West Virginia. The Wheeling family stood up there proudly (the Washington crowd was certainly there in spirit) with him as he spoke to some of the people of Wheeling, as well as tv and newspaper crews, about his plans for Washington. Now I’ll be watching for pictures and video on the news for the next couple of days. (I’m famous by association! Haha.) I’ve been told that this is only the beginning. I have NO idea of what to expect but I’m very excited.
