Being green, saving green.

gdiaper Bennett and I got our tax refund back in the mail and have started making some investments for our little Louis’ arrival.  The biggest one is actually our proudest moment in being “green friendly”.  We’ve decided to venture into the world of cloth diapers and really couldn’t be more excited about it.  Seriously…I never thought I’d find myself saying that.

The product is called “gDiapers” and is FANTASTIC.  I’ve got a few friends from high school that are now mommies and have been working with cloth diapers for a while now and they’ve got me convinced that we can do this.  I recommend everyone to go to the website: www.gdiapers.com and read all about this diapering option.  Not only are we going to be saving a TON of money by not constantly having to buy disposable diapers but we will also be saving Mother Earth.  Or at least helping to not make it worse. 

Did you know that it takes up to 500 years for a regular disposable diaper to decompose?  500 years!!  Our children’s children’s children won’t even be around by the time that happens!  With gDiapers, we have a cloth and a biodegradable disposable option that will make landfills a little clearer of ‘sposies.  (The biodegradable option decomposes in 45 days….amazing.)

Also…gDiapers are seriously the cutest things I’ve ever seen.  I can’t wait to see little Louis’ tush rompin’ around with a colorful gDiaper on it.  Well honestly, I can’t wait to see his tush in general, but I think this will make it even cuter.  We just have to make sure we keep up on laundry better than we do now and all will be good.  AH!  I’ve never been so excited about diapers in my life…Bennett and I are geeked about when they arrive so we can diaper a teddy bear for the time being. 🙂

Also, Bennett has just ordered us an “Idbid”.  Again, you can get more information by going to their website: www.idbids.com  Basically, it’s a plush toy made of organic Egyptian cotton that comes with a book teaching children to make iddy-biddy steps to keep the Earth healthy and green.  With the purchase of each Idbid, the company donates to the nature conservancy to help save different environmental causes.  He chose Waverly for Louis, which is a rain drop that helps rescue the reefs.

Hopefully with all of our attempts lately to be more Earth friendly people, we will also raise a kiddo that is conscious of it as well.  (If you’re wondering what else we’ve been up to lately: Bennett and I are composting, using recycled shopping bags and have set ourselves up to be a part of Wheeling’s recycling services.  Go Team McKinley!)  It’s about time we started treating our home a little better.

    yay for cloth! You're going to like it (if you can like changing poopy diapers :D) Nothing is cuter than a baby in "fluff"
