Dropping the ball.

Apr 5, 2010

Whoops.  It’s been a while since I’ve written on here…sorry about the delay.  I really hadn’t planned any excuses before I started writing this post, so I guess I’ll have to fess up and admit that I was just plain lazy.  🙂

Here are the two weeks of baby bump pictures that I’ve been witholding:

Week 18 - 2010.03.23 Week 19 - 2010.03.30

We’ve had ourselves and incredibly amazing week/weekend and I honestly have to say that we owe it all to Mother Nature.  She’s blessed us with some great weather and we’ve responded by being more active.  I think Maeby and George Michael are also very excited because we’ve been letting them run off all of their energy while being outside.  Seriously, I didn’t think that our dogs would get to the point where they’re asking us to go back inside…but we’ve achieved it!

I had a couple of girls over to our house last Thursday to decorate Easter eggs and cupcakes and we ended up having a BLAST.  Charissa and Katie helped indulge my inner child and we created some really cute cupcakes.  The egg decorating paled in comparison that night.  I really wanted to make cute Easter cupcakes so I went on familyfun.com and found an easy way to make bunny cupcakes.  We may have strayed a few times from the initial idea but all of the treats turned out super cute (even the ones that weren’t so cute) and I had so much fun doing it.

IMG_1584 On Saturday, we had SO. MUCH. FUN.  Bennett and I are becoming quite the little (organic) gardeners and have been really enjoying getting our house prepped and ready for planting season.  We’ve started with a mini-greenhouse in the breakfast room at Willow Glen.  By “greenhouse”, I mean that the breakfast room has amazing light that filters through those beautiful windows and we’ve planted around 75 seeds that are growing in peat cups and coconut-fiber seed pads.   Things are actually growing already too!!  It’s awesome and I cannot wait until we have vegetables growing in our garden.

We’ve yet to build our garden plot yet but Bennett has collected most of the materials and we’ve got to get that together soon.  He’s plotted out a 4×12 raised garden bed and once we get the wooden base put together, we can fill it up with soil and peat moss and get our little sprouts planted.  AH!  So exciting!

Saturday also brought us some Easter egg coloring time with Davey, Annie, Meredith, (young) David and Mary.  We had them over to the house and dropped our eggs into those fun colored cups.  I sometimes feel less guilty about all of my childish ways when I get children to do them with me.  I guess I try and blame wanting to dye eggs on the kids instead of confessing that it’s really me that wanted to do it the most.  The only problem with dying eggs two times in one week is that we now have an abundance of hard boiled eggs waiting to be eaten in our refrigerator.  Maybe Bennett and I will be able to take care of that situation. 🙂

As for today, we had a wonderful time with the McKinleys yet again.  Elizabeth is here visiting for the week and, as always, it’s good to see one of Bennett’s big sisters.  Shortly after she arrived, the majority of the McKinley clan went for a quick hike in the woods surrounding Willow Glen and I’m assuming they had a good time because Bennett came back covered in mud and scratches.  My husband shares a lot of my childish wonder and he spent most of the walk playing in the creek.  (And by most, I think I mean all.)

After everyone cleaned up, we met at Meredith & David’s house for a yummy Easter Sunday dinner.  I’m still stuffed!  The food was delicious and it was great to be around all of those people.  A perfect way to end a perfect weekend, if you ask me.  Thanks Meredith & David for hosting again this year!!  We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend as well!
