Harddrive Earrings | “I Made It” Monday (Tuesday Edition)

Jul 5, 2011

Forgive me for not posting something yesterday – maybe we can overlook it because it was such a beautiful holiday weekend?? 🙂

This will be a quick version of “I Made It” Monday, but I didn’t want to miss a week of sharing other’s creativity with you all!  My husband is the featured inventor/crafter this time around, with something that he made for me.

Bennett is almost always in trouble in our household because he’s constantly wanting to take things apart.  Mostly electronics, but he generally likes to see how things work and figure out how to make it into something even better.  I shouldn’t give him too much of a hard time because I do reap some of the benefits, but I wouldn’t be a good wife if I left him off easy.  Would I?

I wish we’d taken a picture of the other earring so you could see them both – maybe I’ll get him to snap one later.  I absolutely love these and wear them often.  They are made of remnants of a dismantled harddrive and are pretty stinking neat.  The earrings aren’t exact matching pieces either, which makes it even more fun to wear.  (I’m always getting compliments from people that never would guess what they are upcycled from!)

Pretty great, huh?  So ladies, next time you start to give your husband ‘the look’ as he’s taking apart something you don’t necessarily think he should be…try and refrain and encourage him to make you a fun, one of a kind piece of jewelry for you to sport!

made it monday

A big thanks to my husband for letting me share and wear this fine piece of upcycled treasure!  If any of you are interested in having something you’ve made be featured on this site, drop me a line!  I absolutely LOVE seeing what others are capable of!  (My email: katy@katyscreations.com)
