As some of you may know, we celebrated my son’s first birthday on Saturday. I cannot believe how quickly a year in the life of a sweet little boy can fly! Ugh. Does anyone know how to slow time down yet? I really need it!
Our theme for the party was based around my husband’s dream for what Louis will be when he grows up: an astronaut!!
I will admit to being a crazy mom that wanted his party to be as decorated as humanly possible. (Reason #109850398 why I love my husband: he lets me get away with these things!) I saw something on a blog one time where people were making their own cutouts for party decorations and I thought, “I can do that!”
So with a little help from my husband/partner-in-crime, we put something together.
All it took was printing out my astronaut graphic that I’d used for the rest of my decorations {which will be shared in later posts} in a ‘poster’ format on my printer at home. I’m sure there would have been an easier way to do this with a projector, but since I don’t own a projector we had to work with what we had.
I then traced the picture onto a large piece of cardboard and my husband and I painted away. Painting ended up being the most difficult task because we had to play keep-away with our crazy, crawling son. 🙂
After it dried, we cut the face part out and it was ready for the party! As you can see by this last photo, even the big kids [mainly me] enjoyed the party prop. I thought it was a super fun addition to our décor and we got some cute pictures as a result of it.
Fun, right? You should totally try it at your next shin dig! 🙂
