the big craftowski | origami flowers

Apr 15, 2013

Guess what kids?  I held my FIRST EVER craft party.  And it was freaking amazing!  I’ve been dying to have some ladies over to the house to have some drinks, laughs, gossip and crafting and I finally got my chance.  I’m thinking that this is going to be a necessary addition in my life.  Maybe a monthly event?  Ahh…we can figure out the details later.

2013-03-27 April Flyer

I put out a call on trusty ole’ Facebook to see if anyone wanted to learn and have fun with me and I was able to drag convince some people to do so.  Four awesome gals showed up this time around and I’m hoping that I can figure out how to get more involved later on.  Ask any of them, they’ll tell you that they had a really great time.

There was only a slight bit of bribery during the whole thing.  We fed the whole troop (and the significant others that came along and spent time with Bennett), had a few beers/wine and crafted away.  I feel like people are always telling me that “they just aren’t that crafty” and sometimes I think they just need a good shove in the right direction.  It doesn’t take a creative genius to make things!  It just takes a little patience and sometimes guidance.  I swear.  And it’s fun!

I also gifted each of the girls with a koozie, to commemorate the event.  The Craft Abides.  It truly does.

Origami flower bouquets are adorable, in my opinion.  And they’d be so fun for so many different things.  I’m thinking weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, home décor….the works!  We’ve got a few in our house and I have one sitting at my desk at my office.  It’s a “space cheerer-upper”.

Want to make your own?  Quite some time ago, I made a mini-tutorial that you can find {here} to help you make these for yourself.

If you’re thinking what I’m thinking, the answer is: YES.  I only spend time around ridiculously beautiful people.  These four women are absolutely amazing and I had such a great time with them.  It also helped to calm my nerves about teaching for the first time that they are all my friends.  And I love them to death. 🙂

And of course, the expected “finished product” picture was a necessity.  I think they all did an awesome job on their bouquets and it was fun seeing how everyone’s turned out, based upon their own vision.  Thanks for playing along ladies!!

So what do you think?  Would you Craftowski?

PS – if you’ve noticed something different about my blogging home now, there is!  I decided that “I” am my business and it was too much work to have separate blogs for Handmade Escapade and my personal life.  So now they’re mashed together into one grand scheme of things.

I’m working to correct all of the links but please feel free to let me know what needs fixed, as I’m sure I’ve missed about a million things.  This is a mash-up of the former, and my personal, family blog.  Lots of posts.  Maybe a little chaos.  But we will get it all worked out eventually.  Pinkie swear.
