Good lord, this kiddo finds things to be obsessed with and sticks with them for quite some time. Now added to his list of “gotta-haves” is anything Angry Bird related. Except, they’re not angry…they’re hungry.
“Please Hungry Birds on Pa-pad?”
Translation?: Can I please watch YouTube videos, explaining how to play levels of Angry Birds games on the iPad? And then continue to watch the weirdest things ever, somehow even landing on home videos of kids playing in their yards because YouTube thoughtfully suggests other “similar” videos to watch?
I guess you could say this is my fault. Bennett would be happy to agree. (He’s also in serious trouble about making fun of my overuse of the word ‘snarky’ so I took this picture to capture his turdball-ness.)
A few months ago, I asked Bennett to show me the music video for Gangnam Style. I only did because I’m soooo ridiculously far removed from the pop-culture side of music that I’d never heard the song, seen the video or knew anything about it beyond the fact that it was popular and people were constantly referencing it. Big mistake.
The song is crazy catchy and Louis looooved it immediately. We were forced to watch it at least 10 times that first night because Mr. Toddler wanted to torture his parents. Ever since then, he will ask to watch “Whoop, Whoop and Style” on the iPad. He’s quickly learned the dance moves and some of the lyrics. Luckily, his interpretation of “sexy lady” isn’t that at all…so I can’t feel too horrible about his listening to the song.
We try to keep him from watching/listening to it. But then this happens…and our parental resistance abilities are destroyed with one look. Louis twists his hands, cocks his head to one side, puts on a giant smile and says “pleaaaase”. Poof! We are turned into jello.
How did Gangnam Style turn into Angry Birds? Well – the internet is full of fun “related videos”. Did you know that there is a version of Gangnam Style for basically every other thing ever imaginable? Sonic the Hedgehog dances to the song, so does Pocoyo, GummiBar, Batman and………..Angry Birds! Seriously, Angry Birds is the worst one. It’s awful. Which would of course end up being the favorite of our little one.
I guess we will just have to ride this one out. Hungry Birds is here to stay for a while…especially considering the last few days, how much Bennett and I have been forced to create Play-Doh versions of the little squawkers. We made him a green pig and he launches the [horrible replicas of the] birds a the pig, to try and knock it down.
Great use of creativity. Also slightly annoying that he’s never satisfied with my Play-Doh artwork abilities. I guess I’ll work on it? Thank goodness it’s summertime and we have the ability to be outside more often than not. Otherwise, there would be a heck of a lot more Hungry Bird-making in our household.
I shouldn’t complain, really. A boy’s imagination is probably the most important part of childhood. I’m happy that we don’t have to really encourage creativity. It just bursts from our kiddo at every moment possible. Obviously, Momma and Daddy making him some things to play along with help the process.
I’m happy that I have Super Louis by my side at all times; surveying the land, keeping us safe from “robot bees/pigs/cows” and rescuing kitty cats from trees. Who knows how Bennett and I could survive all of those things without a superhero?
