Happy Birthday, Handmade Escapade!

Oct 15, 2013

Guess what?  Guess what?!  Handmade Escapade turned THREE today!

I’d be lying if I said that these last three years have been easy ones.  There are points where I’ve wanted to give it all up: stop taking orders, close down my Facebook page and pretend that I didn’t own a small business.  I have a husband, a son, a life…was it worth all of the emails, late nights and extra stress?  And then when I’m about to throw in the towel, I get a really sweet review or message from a complete stranger about how much they like my creations or are inspired by what I make/do…or wants tips on how to do it themselves.  And my gusto returns.

October 15, 2010 was the first day I listed an item on Etsy.  I hardly knew what Etsy was…or even how to crochet that well.  I just tried it out because I tend to a be a “fly by the seat of my pants” kinda gal.  Now, three years and thousands of sales later, I’m still that way.  Just with a little more experience behind it all.  I’m still learning and growing and it’s been a hard/frustrating/amazing/hysterical/overwhelming/inspiring/fulfilling journey.  When it stops being all of those things, maybe that’s when I’ll know it’s time to quit.

But guess what?  I’m not going anywhere any time soon!  WOOT!

2013-10-15 birthday

I wanted to celebrate by giving some stuff away to my amazing friends…you guys!  But I also wanted to make it a fun surprise for what you get in the mail.  I’m not going to tell you what you’re going to be getting!  (Does that make you nervous?)  If you’re a winner, you won’t know your prize until it comes in the mail…how fun, right?

  • My store is full of goodies.  Shirts galore.  Art prints.  Koozies.
  • I’ve made so much stuff in these last few years that I’d love to gift them to someone.  High-waisted skirts.  Leggings with heart patches on the knees.  Crocheted hats.  Bow ties.  Hair bows.  Earrings.  (You can see most of my random creations on my Instagram account.)
  • I’ve also been know to give out gift certificates to people I love.  So…there’s that.  Starbucks?  Handmade Escapade?  Hmm….

There are a few ways to enter below.  It should be fairly easy to handle.  Good luck!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

PS – please help me make this worth while.  I hate getting all excited about giving things away and then no one enters.  I just want someone to love meeeeeeeee.  <———–sad cry for help.

Katy, I tried to leave a review on your Etsy page, but it looks like the only way to do that is after making a purchase. BUMMER! So here's my review…
"Katy recently made me a custom designed t-shirt for my friend and I to wear at The Color Run for our team, Coloring Outside the Lines. It was a rather detailed design but she didn't shy away from it! It turned out exactly as we hoped and had quite a few compliments at the race! If you need shirts made, consider shopping local to support a friendly small business like Handmade Escapade!"

My favorite items that you have made and that I'd love to add to my HE collection are your skirts and leggings! Which reminds me, you should totally do a comfy sweatshirt with heart elbow patches to match the leggings – they'd be an awesome combo for cold days! Happy Birthday and congrats on 3 years!

I just adore you and all of the adorable things you make! I love the 3 shirts that I have purchased from you. They make cheering on the Mountaineers that much better! I also love my L(WV)VE decal for my car. I have gotten tons of "I love that, where did you get it?" compliments on all of my goodies! PS…your skirts and leggings with the little hearts on the knees are super cute and I wouldn't be disappointed if you were to begin selling them at your store! I also love the "Creative Minds" shirts/koozies. 🙂
