Holy cow, was last night fun. Like serious amounts of fun.
In April, Bennett and I purchased tickets and backstage passes to the Fresh Beat Band Live and have been excitedly waiting for the concert date to arrive. Louis has been watching this show since he’s actually watched TV and we were thrilled to have snagged tickets for it. Seriously, if the FBB comes to your town: get tickets as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed.
Bennett and I love this show for so many reasons and it was great to bring these characters to life for Louis. It’s just a good, wholesome show about music. They sing and dance and team build. And the music isn’t too shabby…nothing you’ll hear in the club but super catchy and we really don’t hate having this on Louis’ playlist.
Bennett and I seriously scored awesome seats. We were only like six rows back from the stage, right in the center. I will probably never have that great of seats (or backstage passes!) to any show ever, in the history of my life. I was more than happy to have this experience with the little one though.
I think Louis was a little overwhelmed by the whole concert experience. He liked it, but there was a lot less singing and dancing from him than I had expected. He sat on Bennett’s lap the majority of the concert and was very wide-eyed during it. Most likely it was due to a sensory overload: loud noises, cast members from his show right in front of him, lots of kids…you know. Lots going on.
We didn’t know what to expect from the backstage aspect of our tickets but I was very happy we decided for fork over a little extra money for it. We walked into a room that was basically a child’s wonderland. A DJ playing FBB songs, balloons (Lou’s favorite) everywhere, photobooth backdrops and props for the kids to play with, tunnels to crawl through, healthy snacks and craft tables set up. It was AWESOME.
If you ask Louis what his favorite part of the night was, he will tell you “the playing”. Of course he would. My favorite part, though? Actually meeting the cast members. Of course, they are still being Marina, Kiki, Twist and Shout…but these four actors (Yvette, Tara, Jon and Thomas) are seriously so sweet. And nice.
I think Bennett and Shout are sharing a sweet “bro” moment here. Haha. Love their eye contact and smiles in this photo.
Honestly, I don’t know how they do it. They have to be energetic and “on” at all times during this. It’s one thing to be a standard celebrity…it’s a whole new ball game when you’re a children’s show celebrity. No snark is allowed. Only smiles and super silly antics. It would be exhausting. These four didn’t seem to miss a beat at all.
Louis was SO EXCITED to meet them. He even got to sit on Marina’s lap for a photo with the foursome. Hello adorable and beaming smile coming from him! I was worried that he’d be too shy to get a photo but he was all about it. He also didn’t miss a (fresh) beat!
Horn tooting moment, if I may: all four of the cast members were super complimentary of my shirts. Jon (Twist) Beavers even said that his mom would even wear it. I gave a good fist pump when they told me they really liked them and exclaimed “I win!” and they all laughed at me. So basically I’m famous. Or not. But it was a little bit of a high for me nonetheless. 🙂
^^That’s me with the giant purse, making a love connection with Twist. All the while Louis is getting doted over by the two girls. Haha.
But seriously. Get tickets for this and your kiddos. You will love it as much as we did. Promise.
