4-Wheeling.

Feb 24, 2014

We have finally had a break in the freezing conditions here in Wheeling and Bennett thought it’d be the perfect time to let Louis ride his 4-Wheeler that his Nana got him for this past Christmas.  I was expecting death and destruction to be a result of our decision to let Louis play…but he ended up surprising me with his natural driving skills.

The thing with his quad is that the pedal is a foot pedal.  Which would make sense, except that when it’s on the foot, Louis doesn’t tend to let up on the gas.  So we gave him explicit instructions on how to stop when we say stop…and how to turn and not smash into and run over everything.

Off he went.

I’m pretty sure the smile never left his face the entire time he was driving.  There was only one incident when he ran into a wall.  But no big deal…he learned, corrected himself and continued on his speedy little way.

It was another parenting moment where we took way more pictures than probably necessary because it’s just so cute watching him learn new skills.  There were three of us surrounding him at all times (Grandma, Momma and Daddy) so he was always safe but he was totally driving on his own regard.  :: sob! :: My baby!

Of course, I had to hop on his “ride” and see if it would carry me around.  I’m thinking my legs are three times too long to drive it but it was fun, none-the-less.  You would have done the same!!  Louis made sure to tell me when to stop, back up and turn while I was driving though.  He got a kick out of it.

I just keep thinking that spring is right around the corner.  The sun has been out way more than it has in the last few months and we’ve been spending more and more time outdoors.  It feels good to get some fresh air in our lungs and to stretch our legs.

Of course, George Michael kept his distance from the wild, driving manic.  George has always been the skittish personality in our family and allowing Louis to drive around on a battery-powered vehicle was a little too much for him to handle.  He watched his human brother from afar.
