My FAV this week is more of a NEED. I don’t know why I do it, but I put myself on a rollercoaster ride of the workout/be lazy lifestyle. I do really well and then I get super busy with orders, work and life and I give up exercise…which then leads to eating like crap. And then feeling like crap.
It’s funny that the first thing I give up to try and balance things is my own health. *sigh.
Anyway, I’m back on track thanks to a little motivation from some bloggers. They started an exercise challenge for April & May called the #1800minutechallenge
Living in Yellow, Alissa from Alissa Circle, Emily from The Freckled Fox, and Alycia from Crowley Party are joining forces and encouraging all of their e-friends to dedicate 1800 minutes in the next sixty (well…fifty-eight at this point) days to being healthy and active. It works out to being 30 minutes a day but it can be broken out however you’d like. They just want you to get your free moving and by having it all over Instagram and the blogosphere, we can encourage all of the other ladies (and gents??) to keep on trucking alongside each other.
Since Tuesday was the kickoff, I was ready for it. I like to use MyFitnessPal to track my food intake and exercise. Things like that keep me honest. And when you end your day by MFP telling you that if you keep it up you’ll be X-pounds lighter in five weeks…it’s a hell of a motivator.
I’m trying to stay off of the scale, though. Just do things that make me feel healthier and better, rather than be a slave to how many pounds I did or didn’t lose.

Here’s what you need to know:
1. You will want to sign up to be a part of the challenge just so we know who is joining in on the fun (and so that you have a chance to win the amazing grand prize at the end of the sixty days). You can register here.
2. Starting April 1st, you will be responsible for tracking your own progress. Don’t worry, I’ve gotcha covered. After signing up for the challenge, you will receive a spreadsheet via email from me which will allow you to quickly track and total your minutes!
3. Throughout the challenge use #1800MinuteChallenge on Instagram or Twitter so that those of us also participating can follow along and cheer you on. Make sure to follow @livinginyellow, @alissamcircle,@thefreckledfox and @alyciagrayce for occasional workout ideas, our favorite playlists, and extra tips + tricks on how to get your 1800 minutes in!
4. At the end of the challenge (May 31st) those of you who have completed all 1800 minutes will email me your spreadsheet [firstname.lastname@example.org]. On Monday, June 9th one winner will be drawn to receive the #1800MinuteChallenge grand prize. It’s still a secret on what you will be receiving but don’t worry, we will fill you in on the details as time goes on. Keep in mind that the best prize of all will be how great you feel and look at the end of the challenge. Our prizes will just be the cherry on top 😉
Who knows if I’ll even turn the spreadsheet in…I think I was just looking for a reason and a date to start running on my elliptical again. Obviously when the weather finally turns for the better, I’ll find an outdoor activity. Right now, inside while watching TV and having Louis play around me is perfect.
