We were in Morgantown yesterday for a wedding and because Bennett was a groomsman, we had to be there early with a bunch of flex time for Louis and me. Being that it’s my old stomping grounds, I wasn’t too concerned about what we were going to be able to do to fill our time but then I had a genius idea to call my friend Steve and see if he’d meet us for a coffee.
He’s seriously a champ. And a great person. I texted him at 7:30am on a Saturday and asked if he wanted to bring his daughter to meet up with us. And he did it. Because Steve is awesome. It was great to catch up with him and Louis way, way, way enjoyed playing with Jane. We were in the Burger King playplace…but hey. It was air conditioned, we were the only ones in there and the kiddos loved it. Perfect.
As the two families were about to part, Louis got really sad. Like, really really sad. I buckled him into his carseat and Louis said (very dramatically):
I miss her so much. She is my best friend.
Oh Louis. I love you and your sweet little heart. He’s been around Jane (I think) only two other times. “Best friend” might be stretching it a bit. But she is a really adorable little one, such a cheeseball and really sweet. So I get it.
Thanks SteveLo for meeting up with us on such a last minute’s notice! It was so stinking good to catch up with you.
