Sorry I’m eight million hours late on posting today. As you will read below, I was traveling this weekend and photographing a friend’s wedding. So my priorities were to just get home safely and I’d worry about blogging later. But guess what? It’s still Sunday. So let’s do this!!
This week’s themes: Dwelling, Helping, Forgetting, Switching, Relying
Dwelling: On the fact that I have the world’s greatest friends and it sucks that we are so spread out now. My sweet friend, Mike, married his equally sweet match-made-in-heaven, Jessica, last night. Bennett and I were honored by being asked by them to capture their day for them. We obviously weren’t going to say no. It was a chance to see them, get a backstage pass to their big day and spend a bunch of time with amazing people that we don’t get to see often. The people I worked with during our college days at Best Buy 832 in Morgantown, WV will always be my best friends. We are forever bonded by that store and the craziness that we got into together. This was just a small cross-section of our entire BBY crew but it was serious amounts of fun to be with these guys and gal.
Helping: Me to recover from my hangover (of both the drinking kind and the having too much fun in general kind) is re-living the fun I had last night over and over in my head. There were points that I was laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes. I also had tears in my eyes from listening to the ridiculously amazing speeches given by the bridal party and the fathers of the groom and bride. And I danced a ton, sometimes with my handsome hubby and sometimes with my handsome besties. Either someone else in our group needs to get married STAT or we need to solidify some plans based off of the reunion chat we had last night. I need more nights like this in my life.
Forgetting: That I’m not nineteen anymore and my body requires sleep. Not a lot of sleep. But sleep nonetheless. We forgot this little rule last night when we went out AFTER the wedding, shut down the bar and gave ourselves only one hour worth of sleep before we had to get up, catch an Uber ride to the airport and fly home. Stupid us. It was fun but I’m crazy exhausted, as is Bennett.
Switching: Back from “vacation-ish” mode…which is proving to be tough. It was only for a weekend but we consumed a lot of beers and had our first Louis-free excursion like this since before his birth. Bennett and I were just two wild and crazy kids for a 48-hour period. (Well, with the exception of a good chunk of it requiring us to work and photograph the wedding, ha.) We’ve gone away for an evening before but never for two nights worth of having someone watch the little guy. We were so excited to see him, and he was certainly excited to see us. He even had Grandma help make him a sign that read: “Welcome Home” and was taped to the door when we arrived.
Relying: On the patience of Louis today as Bennett and I take turns napping in short increments. Not joking. We are 1,000 years old. These old farts just can’t hack it any longer.
We had such an amazing weekend! Congratulations Mike & Jess! We love you guys to the max!
You look gorgeous and the bride does as well, of course! It sounds like you had such a great weekend and I'm glad to hear that Louis had fun with his grandmother. I love that first shot under the marquee.
I totally feel you with needing sleep and not being able to hack it. I had a few beers Friday night and felt a little wobbly Saturday morning!
This old age is the pits, isn't it? 🙂
It is indeed! Haha
