Tahoe Tee by Peekaboo Patterns

Jun 5, 2015

Poor Bennett.  I sew a ton of fun things for Louis and myself, but never for him.  Mostly it’s because designers out there aren’t really putting out a lot of men’s patterns.  I guess I don’t blame them, men’s clothing isn’t as exciting.  And they experience way less trends than what you see with clothing for women and children.  But that doesn’t keep Bennett from giving me puppydog eyes.

Oh the puppydog eyes!

Peekaboo Patterns just released the men’s Tahoe Tee and I snatched it up immediately.  A men’s basic tee is exactly what I wanted.  (I’m looking for a good raglan too, in case you know of one!)  I want a quick sew for Bennett.  Nothing fussy with plackets and buttons and collar stands and yokes.  Just a regular ole’ tee that I can make for him.

The Tahoe Tee pattern comes with a couple variations.  You can make the it sleeveless or with long/short sleeves.  It’s the beginning of sweat-all-the-time weather around here, so obviously I chose to make the short sleeved version.

Oh.  And full-blown confession.  Men in tanktops creep me out.  I don’t know why.  They just do.  I can’t even bring myself to letting Louis wear a tank.  So the tank version will never appear in our household.  Ha!

Often, I make Louis shirts that have a woven front; with knit sleeves, bands and back panels.  I know that I can’t stitch a shirt up like that for myself because I need a stretch in the bust area, but I thought I’d go ahead and try it with Bennett.  And it worked!

The great thing about this pattern is that it fits him great.  Perfectly, really.  Bennett and Louis are both built with really long torsos and a lot of their shirts are practically belly shirts if they raise their arms the slightest.  This length is perfection on that handsome hubby of mine.

It’s such a quick and easy sew that I can see myself making a bunch of shirts like this for him.  Some with pockets, perhaps?  I don’t know, I’ll have to look around.  I almost have to be ::more:: creative with clothing for Bennett because I can’t use loud patterns like I do for Louis and me.  I’ll need to mix/match in a more subtle way.  Challenge: Accepted.

I’m hoping this will keep him off my back for a little while.  You know, long enough so I can go and make 30294820398 outfits for myself.  Kidding.  Sort of.
