If you're from West Virginia, you should be fully aware that today is West Virginia Day! Woohoo! This beautiful, old broad is turning 152 years old today!
We plan to be out and about all day long, enjoying everything that Wheeling has to offer us. The Farmers Market, an unveiling of a new statue downtown, and all of the awesome happenings for The Arts Festival will be keeping us busy all day...as long as the rain holds off a bit.
We decided to buy Louis a sketch book yesterday, to both encourage him to color and draw more, but also to keep all of his drawings in one place. While he was drawing pictures of briefcases with superhero stuff in them, I sat down and worked on my hand-lettering a bit. And then I decided to offer it as a freebie....can't keep this one to myself!
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy visited West Virginia and gave a speech, as part of it's 100th Birthday Celebration. Apparently during this speech, and the two times he'd visited in years past, it rained on him the entire time. The crowd ate up every word and I've heard JFK quoted multiple times by the people of West Virginia now.
I thought these quotes were very fitting for today. First, it's been raining buckets for the last week and a half. And...it's West Virginia Day!
