I’m only a week behind in sharing about this event…that’s not too bad is it? 😉
Last Wednesday, the McKinley three all headed down to the Capital Theatre to attend the 8th Show of Hands event, that is put on by the amazing folks at Reinvent Wheeling. If you are local and haven’t attended yet, you really need to.
It’s a crowd-source based funding program, with four businesses/art projects/etc competing to get some extra cash to get their projects off of the ground. Show of Hands is easily one of my favorite events in Wheeling.
The music is always fantastic. The people are full of home-town spirit and pride. And the presenters make you want to just get out there and do something for/with the city. It’s basically a win-win-win-win-win (too many wins?) for anyone who goes.
The presenters this go round were:
– The Children’s Museum’s Upcycled Fashion Show
– Grandview Grocer (a co-op grocery store)
– Wheeling Arts & Culture Fest (the first merge of these two fests)
– You’ve Been Here Before(pop-up art event)
As usual, we let Louis participate in the voting portion of Show of Hands. We pay his $5 entry fee, let him decide which project he wants to vote for, and then he casts the vote. It’s pretty cute and our little way of getting him involved…even at a pretty young age.
A big thanks goes out to the team at Reinvent Wheeling for always putting this together for us. I hope it never ends. I love learning about all of the positive happenings around town and finding our own ways to get involved and stay involved in the community.
And congratulations to Grow Ohio Valley for taking home the big check that night! We’ve loved Ken and Danny since the day we met them…and big fans of the CSA subscription we’ve been a part of for the last several years.
Can’t wait for the next “season” of Show of Hands!!
