Woodland Animals + Deep Sea V

Patterns for Pirates, sewingKaty McKinleyComment

Geometric designs are prints are all the rage right now and I am totally right there with the trend.  I mean, our logo has been a geo design for the last two years as well.  It speaks to me.

When Big Sew Fabrics posted their Woodland Creatures knit....I had to have it.  Not just a little bit, either.  A lot bit.  I just knew it'd make the cutest shirt for Louis this fall.  And I was right!

I knew I wanted to make him a shirt (although some lounge pants were also an idea) but picking the perfect shirt wasn't the easiest.  I feel like his closet has a million raglans and I wanted to switch it up the teeniest bit.

DING DING DING!  The Deep Sea Vneck by Patterns for Pirates!  How could I forget how cute he is in a vneck?  **hint hint: Bennett really likes vnecks too.....Judy if you're reading this....I'm requesting it again.

Because I only had a fat half of this delicious fabric, I knew that I had to be creative with placement and didn't have enough to make an entire shirt for the Lou-mister out of just the geo animals.  I created some faux-layered sleeves with this forest green ponte and I feel like it took the shirt one extra level of cute.  Doing the sleeves like this is so easy!  One day I might even remember to take photos while I'm doing it so you can do it too.

I'm still not the most perfect vneck creator.  However, they don't intimidate me like they used to.  This one is the teensiest bit off, but I feel like no one will notice but me.  Why are we always the most critical of our own creations?  I've actually blogged the Deep Sea V once before, when Louis requested a Black Bolt dressup shirt from me.  Because kiddo keeps growing up, and not out, I actually took the same size as before and added an inch to the hem length.  Fits him like a glove.

Can you believe that he's turning 6 in just a couple of weeks?  Be still my Momma heart.
