I love sewing for Louis. But that’s pretty obvious. But I especially love sewing for Louis when I get to use awesome fabric that feeds his interests. It’s probably our fault, but Louis loves all things space. And this new fabric from Snowy Owl Customs is totally Lou’s style!
Yes, I made another raglan. And no, I don’t care that he already has a million raglans in his closet. I just love them so much. And it’s perfect for being able to use multiple fabrics. I was sent a fat half of these gorgeous planets and I wanted to use as much as I could of it.
I couldn’t fit his shirt front/back bodice pieces onto the fabrics and I hated the idea of having a solid front of the tee. So I decided to create a planet of my own, and used up every last scrap of the fabric for this fun applique on front!
I didn’t feel like being super meticulous with the planet applique. So I did a crazy quilting style pattern and left the edges raw for the planet and it’s rings. I think it adds a little fun and character to the shirt!
Fun fact: Louis’ namesake was a pilot in WWII. Louis Bennett was an ace fighter pilot and we’ve had dreams of Louis being a pilot/astronaut ever since he was born. It would be an incredible story to have the newest Louis continue the family quest!
But hey, if he doesn’t…that’s okay too. No pressure kiddo. I promise.
