Let’s be real here, friends. These photos were meant to be shared first in the insert that goes in the packages for Threads of the Month subscriptions. And I somehow managed to seal all of the packages without putting the inserts in them. And then, I meant to give you this blog post last week while I was on vacation…but the internet was THE WORST in the mountains and I didn’t want to fight with it.
So here we are, a bit late. But still share-worthy. Right?
I should probably tell you more about Threads of the Month, huh?
Threads of the Month is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!
- Receive!
- Sew!
As a lover of fabric and sewing and color, my goal is to deliver some amazing fabrics to you — of which you can turn around and make some amazing threads for yourself. Each month, you will receive 2-yards of knit fabrics (on varying bases) in the mail. Most of the time it will be a continuous 2-yard length, but we might surprise you with some coordinating prints from time to time.
The Threads of the Month subscription price is $25 and includes shipping. Right now, we are keeping it to US delivery only, but we hope to open it up beyond that soon! We will try and provide you with inspiration for these prints, as well as surprise goodies included in the packages from time-to-time.

My goals for the June fabrics were to:
a) stay away from DBP or liverpool, or anything that wouldn’t be warm weather friendly and
b) provide a fabric print that wasn’t floral.
Nailed it on both goals!! I sent out this gorgeous tropical-esque leaf print in a spun polyester (Jersey feel, 97% polyster, 3% spandex, 180 gsm). Part of the fun of the BeeBox was that they’d sometimes send me fabrics I’d never pick for myself, but I always ended up loving. So the girls that are on this Threads of the Month journey with me are going to be getting that experience as well. I mean, I’m not going to go too wild and weird with it, but it is a Katy-run fabric subscription box…so I have to put my flavor into the picks.

The fabric is light, drapey and was screaming to be turned into a Boho Babydoll top from Patterns for Pirates. I’m even a self-proclaimed hater of gathering fabrics and here I was like “this needs to be done now or I can’t handle myself.”
I’ll admit that these colors are even out of my usual scheme of things. I tend to shy away from anything that matches my hair color, even in the slightest. I’m weird, I know. But I was drawn to these pretty purple/orange/pink/red combos that were in the print and it was a necessary thing to make happen.
What do you think? Was it a winner?
Pattern: Boho Babydoll by Patterns for Pirates
Fabric: June Threads of the Month from Thread & Grain (there’s also a Jade colorway from Sly Fox Fabrics if you want to check it out!)
I absolutely love these colors on you Katy! The peach and coral look lovely on your fair skin tone.
Aw you are too kind! Thank you Jennifer!
