Linen Loungers by Patterns for Pirates

Oh hey!  It’s release day with Patterns for Pirates!  And we are bringing you things to cover your bum, my friends.  We have a set of pants patterns called the “Linen Loungers” and the “Little Loungers” and they are a woven pant for women, boys and girls.  Can I get a whoop whoop?

Sew Americana 2017

Sew Americana 2017

I am SO EXCITED that today is finally here, because it’s the official kickoff of the Sew Americana Blog Tour!  We had so much fun sewing up red, white, and blue inspired things last year, that I decided to make this tour a regular, yearly thing.  Welcome to the first day of 2017’s tour!

We’ve got five bloggers sharing their amazing talent each day.  You will not be disappointed if you head to each of their sites.  (And don’t forget to linkup your own Americana sewing project at the bottom of the post.  Instagram photos can be linked as well!)

Rebel, Rebel | Free Star Wars Cut Files!

Do you ever run into a creative block?  I do for sure.  And it’s A FREAKING BUMMER when it happens.  Like, life altering.  When I want to make something but can’t figure out what to make, it’s straight up depressing.

I went through it with these fabrics from RP Custom Fabrics.  They’re gorgeous and I wanted to do them justice.  It basically destroyed my sewjo….and then a lightbulb went off.  Star Wars.  The answer is Star Wars.  (In reality, the answer is always Star Wars.)

I’m back for my third share of the Bellisima Mundo fabrics from RP Custom Fabrics.  Sara hooked me up with SO MANY strike offs and I couldn’t help but sew and share them all.  Plus it gives me an excuse to take photos of and with my two handsome guys…so you’ll never find me complaining.

Vintage Lace | Fall Flash Round!

I. Freaking. Love. Halloween.
I’ve probably mentioned this before on here.  But it’s true.  I’m not all about the blood and gore Halloween…more for the cutesy/dorky/creepy/crawly side of things.

I love themes.  I love costumes.  And I love the creativity behind Halloween.  I just love it all.  So even if I’m sewing strike-off fabrics well out of season, I don’t care.  Because the strikes are Halloween prints and I am ALLLLLLL over it!

Dylan Tee by Made for Mermaids

Dylan Tee by Made for Mermaids

Today’s post is all for the boys!  I’m so excited to share with you the two patterns that I tested for Made for Mermaids: the Dylan Tees.  Wahoo!

They are the counterpart to the Vivienne that I posted yesterday.  And I love that M4M is bringing some love to the boys.  Because I seriously love sewing for Louis and Bennett and I feel that the Y Chromosome is greatly underrepresented in the pattern world.  Kudos to Team Mermaid for making it happen for us!

Handmade Boy’s The Fighter Tee | Blog Tour!

Throughout my sewing adventures in the last few years, I’ve met some really great people and made some amazing friends.  I’m honored to say that Kelly from Handmade Boy is one of those sew-friends of mine!  She’s a fabulous maker, but an even more fabulous person.  Why?

Kelly is running in a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital marathon and pledged to raise $1,000 for this very worthy cause.  In the ultimate bout of creative thinking, Kelly decided to create a sewing pattern and donate 100% of the proceeds to her fundraising efforts for the run.  Amazing, right??

Wacky Wednesday!

Wacky Wednesday!

Lou’s school is having a “Student Appreciation Week” this week…and today happened to be Wacky Wednesday.  Given the opportunity, I would never pass up a chance to make something silly and in theme!  After a little bit of debating last night, we picked out six fabrics and whipped up this raglan before bedtime.

Pretty wacky, right?  (Is it weird that I can tell you where all of those fabrics are from??)

M4M + P4P Spring Mini Capsule | Progress Report

Eep!  I’m excited to share my Spring Capsule with you guys for a few reasons.  Number one, I actually finished it.  Which is a feat in itself.  Number two, I didn’t follow the rules of the #sewminicapsule but I did make a legit sudoku capsule, so I’m loving all of the graphics I was able to create.  And number three, I just love being able to share boys’ wardrobes.  I feel like little girls get the most attention with clothing, and it’s fun to infuse some boy clothes into the mix of things.  Here we go!

The Force Awakens | Cute Kid Edition

The Force Awakens | Cute Kid Edition

My sister was planning a visit with her two babies and I COULD NOT resist making them coordinating outfits.  It just needed to happen.  And is there seriously a better trio of characters to turn them into than the newest heroes from the Star Wars Universe?  I seriously had so much fun making these outfits.

Like always, I wanted to make sure the clothes were wearable after the fact…but still a form of cosplay.  It’s my “everyday cosplay” style that i love to put Louis in.  And I LOVE how they turned out!

Good lord, Louis needs some clothes for the upcoming change in seasons.  Badly.  Kiddo has grown so much and his entire closet has been cleared of things that are too short for him.  Nothing is more motivating to get sewing done than a capsule challenge, and I’m super happy that Megan and Judy decided to put together the Spring Mini Capsule!

I love sewing for Louis.  But that’s pretty obvious.  But I especially love sewing for Louis when I get to use awesome fabric that feeds his interests.  It’s probably our fault, but Louis loves all things space.  And this new fabric from Snowy Owl Customs is totally Lou’s style!
