It's been over a week since I've updated the blog -- sorry to the few of you who actually keep up with this thing. I hardly get enough time to concentrate on something long enough to write on here but I'm also never really on the computer outside of work. Thank goodness for modern technology because we are able to keep up with everything/everyone from our cell phones. They've become incredibly useful while feeding the baby, bouncing on the yoga ball during his scream fests or walking up and down the hallways to calm him. Without our iPhones I'm sure Bennett and I would be out of touch right now.
It hardly seems possible that it's October already. I can't remember anything beyond August...I'm not sure September was even here. I can't believe how much time has sped up since welcoming Louis into our family. Maybe always being busy makes everything go so much faster...I just hope that it decides to slow down soon. I'm not ready to have 18 years go by in a blur.
Since I last wrote on here, we had a few things happen that I suppose I can share. :)
Amy came to Wheeling for a visit last week...and although she was busy almost the entire time helping out with the campaign, we did get a chance to spend some time with her. The entire Wheeling crew joined us, along with Amy, for a barbecue on Willow Glen's porch. It's always nice to get everybody to sit down for a meal at the same time and Willow Glen is the perfect place for hosting such an event. The food was delish and the company was pretty great! Everybody made sure to pass Louis around for some snuggle time, even Davey and Annie took a turn at holding their cousin. It was pretty sweet.
(There are rumors that Elizabeth will be gracing us with her presence in Wheeling soon. Louis is pretty excited to meet another one of his aunties for the first time!!)
This past Saturday, we took Louis to Oglebayfest. Oglebay is a resort that's just up the road from our house and annually they host their version of Octoberfest on their grounds. Let's just say that there's a lot less shenanigans than I'm sure what goes on at the real Octoberfest. This is much more family oriented and filled with craft booths, fair animals, fried food....okay, and a beer tent. :)
Here's Louis on the way to Oglebayfest in his new hat that Momma made for him. We wanted to make sure he was protected from the shining sun and because his head is just too teeny to fit into any hat with a brim we have just yet, I decided to whip one up. It's pretty cute -- but really, he's cute in everything.
We went with a couple of Bennett's high school buddies and had a great time. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful and we even had the chance to listen to some bluegrass while enjoying a few beverages. Seriously, could you think of a better way to spend a fall day? Louis was strapped to me the entire time in our 'baby bjorn' and slept like a baby. (Oh...so that's where that term comes from!! Ha!)
So far, this week has been pretty uneventful. Bennett is really amazing with his fatherly duties at home and I feel blessed every day that we have the ability right now to have him stay home with our little dude. I am also very lucky to live so close to the office and I pretty much go home every day for lunch. It helps break up the day but it also gives me a chance to get some mid-day snuggling with my little guy. I think the stars are lined up in my favor right now.
