Welcome to all things pumpkin!!
I've started a new business adventure -- if you can really call it a business. I've always been a crafter (I believe in great part to my mother and her side of the family) and there has always been something inside of me that wished I could make money off of my love for it. Lately I have been learning how to crochet and found a couple of hats online that I thought I should try and make. Lo and behold, I have been able to figure out a few on my own! :)
There is a website named Etsy that is kind of like the Ebay of crafting. People put up their handmade items/art/etc. and sell them to the general public. I have created my own site and started selling a couple of my hats. The site is: www.KatysCreations.etsy.com Check it out!! My first hat was this cute little pumpkin...and since then I've been creating all sorts of critter hats for infants. Honestly I can make them for any size person but I've just been working on the ones for the little people as of yet.
Only a few hours after we launched my site I had my first purchase and then several requests for hats, so I think I'm going to be a busy girl for the next few weeks!! It feels good to take a ball of yarn and make it into something that people can wear. I keep dreaming up all of these different hats I can do and our house is now overflowing with yarn. Good thing I have a patient (and super supportive) hubby or else I wouldn't be able to do what I have so far. He's pretty much the best.
This past Sunday, we got all of the McKinleys of Wheeling together for our second annual pumpkin carving event. Meredith whipped up a great dinner and we got to enjoy everyones company. I love the picture that we took this year. It's in the same exact location as last year, except everyone is a year older and Louis has been added to the mix. Perfect.
OUR LITTLE PUMPKIN:
Louis hit his 2-month mile marker yesterday...my baby is getting old!! I am afraid that if I blink he might be 18 soon so I need to make sure and take in as much time with him as I can in this stage (and everyone from here on out). He is getting to be so big and strong and his development is quite remarkable to watch.
Lately he has been such a joy to interact with. Not that he wasn't before, but he is reacting to us now and it warms my heart. I can make crazy noises and kissy faces at him and he will get the cutest ear-to-ear smile because of it. He also spends a lot of time 'talking'. He makes the cutest noises and seems like he is really holding a conversation with himself sometimes. I've tried several times to capture it on video but the stinker seems to get camera shy. Either that or he's being a tease. Considering his genetics (the Boltzes AND the McKinleys), I'd say that he has a pretty big chance of it being the latter.
He had a doctors appointment today and Bennett picked me up from work so I could go along and be there for Little Lou. Okay, so maybe it was just for my own needs. He had his first round of vaccination shots today and was a champion. Seriously...he is one tough little cookie. Louis cried when the needles poked him but turned back into a happy little guy as soon as he was in my arms. (And then once we got him in the car, he was p.a.s.s.e.d out. Haha.)
After being weighed and measured, it was confirmed that our little tyke is growing. He now weighs 10lbs, 4oz and is 23-1/2 inches long. Big boy!! As far as size and weight goes, he is exactly on track of where he's supposed to be and the nurse practitioner said that he is progressing perfectly. Exactly what a momma wants to hear...but I could have told her that.
