Wild & Wanderful

Susan Haddad strikes again!

Monday was David’s birthday and since he’s always so busy being a leader for our great state of West Virginia, we had to sneak in a birthday meal with the family whenever we could.  Later Alligator hosted us on Sunday afternoon and we had a great time, as always.

Just in case those of you in the greater Wheeling area have never been to this restaurant: YOU NEED TO GO!!  It’s awesome and totally quirky (exactly like the owner, Susan).  They have a website if you want to check out the menu.  Her soups are to die for!  www.lateralligator.net

Anyway, Susan had the whole birthday celebration set up for David.  We had seats in the back room (his favorite spot) and she played “When I’m 64” by the Beatles as he walked in.  Too cute!  The kicker was when she had David turn away so she could give the entire family white mustaches in order to look like the man of the hour.  As you can see in the picture below, the birthday boy was also required to wear the fateful alligator hat.  We were at Later Alligator, of course!

It was such a cute addition to the celebration of one more year in David McKinley’s life.  (I don’t have the picture now, but I think Ms. Haddad was also the culprit behind Amy, David and Elizabeth wearing white mustaches during the campaign in 1996.)

I love that Louis even got his own ‘stache.  I wish I had brought my camera because these are the only two pictures that turned out on my iPhone.  Darn.  Maybe we’ll have to do it again next year.  Hehe.
