Pumpkin Carving 2011

Katy McKinleyComment

I’m hoping that these aren’t the last pictures that I share from carving this year.  We’ve been struggling to find a time when the entire [Wheeling] McKinley clan can get together and I still have hope.  There are still some October days left!!

On Saturday, we hosted a Pumpkin Party at our house with a bunch of our friends.  It was nice to have a semi-grownup party while doing childish things.  Isn’t that what your 20-somethings are all about anyway?  We weren’t just carving pumpkins, either!  We had so many delicious pumpkin-themed foods that I’m pretty certain I gained 5-lbs just on Saturday alone.

Pumpkin what, you ask?  We had: pumpkin dip (for the gingersnaps), pumpkin bread, pumpkin & Oreo cheesecake, pumpkin/curry/bacon soup, pumpkin beer…among other things.  Everything was delicious and it was really nice to be able to spend some time with our friends.

We took too many pictures to post them all on this blog – I’m sure you all will be seeing them posted to an album on Facebook soon enough.  (I just put up the ones of our sweet little trio for now.)

Our weekend was actually quite perfect.  Sunday followed with David coming over to the house for a quick lunch on the porch.  Louis showed off his sweet walking skills and pretty much never stopped talking the entire time he was there.  I’m sure they were both happy to be able to be in one another’s company.

It’s unfortunate that our porch-hanging days are numbered (due to winter coming quickly upon us) but I’m can’t even begin to tell you how lucky we are to have such an amazing place to spend time with the ones we love.
