Caps for Chemo 2012

Katy McKinleyComment

I’m very excited to be able to bring this back in the year 2012!!  I was going to wait until February hit – but I was inspired by my auntie’s current situation to help others as much and as quickly as I can.  So here we are!!  Bring it on!

What exactly is ‘Caps for Chemo’?
Hair loss for people during their chemotherapy treatments tend to be something that is a difficult thing to grasp.  It’s bad enough that they are going through all of the health-related issues…but to have people actually “see” that you are sick kind of makes it harder.  I’m trying to help alleviate some of that discomfort – by keeping their noggins both warm AND stylish.

This is where you come in!!  Every hat that you order between now and February 14, 2012 will be DUPLICATED and it’s duplicated will then be DONATED to a chemotherapy patient in my local area.2012-01-09 caps for chemo

How do I order?
Ordering your caps is easy-peasy.  Simply shoot me an email (katy@katyscreations.com) and let me know what you have in mind.  I would try and list all of the different hat styles I’ve made – but the list would be super long and it’s easier to just have you check out my pictures!

Anything listed on my online store (http://shop.katyscreations.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/katyscreations) can be recreated.  Or – if you have something more ‘custom’ in mind, I’m totally open for ideas.

How much do your hats cost?  And which sizes do they come in?
Here is my general sizing/price information:

  • Infant Hat (0-6 months): $16.00
  • Infant Hat (6-12 months): $18.00
  • Toddler Hat (1-3 years): $18.00
  • Youth Hat (3-10 years): $20.00
  • Adult Hat (10 years +): $22.00

{This year, I am also asking for a $4.00 donation (per hat ordered) to help cover the cost of materials.} When deciding on sizes – if you ever question which size your little one will fit into, the general rule of thumb is to order the next size up.  Even if it’s a little large on them now, they’ll be able to use it in the future as well.

**Any duplicate hat for an infant size will automatically be made in a toddler/youth size.  I do all of my invoicing via PayPal and accept payment in multiple ways.  If you have any questions, please just ask.  I will not begin working on your order until payment has been received and due to the volume of orders I will be taking, the delivery of your hats cannot be guaranteed until March 31, 2012.  If (for any reason) it will take me longer than that date, I will be sure to contact you about your specific order.

Where do the donation hats go?
I have a connection through Western Pennsylvania & West Virginia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I’m located in Wheeling, West Virginia and it’s only fitting to donate to a local chapter and help my neighbors out a little bit!!

Each hat will have a donation form attached to it, telling the recipient where and whom their new headwear is from.  (I don’t put last names, for your privacy!!)  Here’s an example of the form I will include.

Why the LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)?
Unfortunately, cancer is something that my family has come to know a little too well.  There have been four people in my extended family diagnosed with cancer.  The “C” word.  Gross.

I’ve now had a total of three people on my mom’s side of the family be affected specifically by Lymphoma.  For some reason or another, it just doesn’t want to leave us alone.  The LLS has been very supportive of my family and I’d do anything to help others that are in similar situations.
