Happy Birthday, Annie House!

Katy McKinleyComment

Annie had her first official “friend” birthday party, in celebration of her 6th birthday.  How is it possible that little Annie Bananny is six already?  SIX?  Ridiculous.

We practiced saying ‘happy birthday’ in the car with Louis.  He almost had it down…but kept saying “Happy Birthday, Annie House!”  Not sure why house was added on the end there.  But it was hilarious, nonetheless.

Martha Stewart-Meredith was on the job again.  The lollipop invitations were adorable but unfortunately our little one thought it was great too and carried it around the house and pretended that it was a real lollipop – in the end destroying it before I could photograph it.  The theme was “Candy Shop” and the colors were bright and cheery.  Perfect for a little gal’s celebration. :)

Seriously, Mer.  Why do you always have to show us up with your party planning abilities?  The kiddos were entertained with ‘Pin the Gumball on the Gumball Machine’ and musical chairs.  Honestly, I can’t remember who won because I spent the majority of my time trying to keep Louis corralled.  Luckily, we have a photographer on staff for moments like this.

And of course…there was cake.  And cupcakes.  And twizzlers and sour candy.  But most importantly, the cake.  I love these series of pictures where big brother Davey is trying to help blow the candles out from a distance.

I guess the cupcakes were a highlight as well.  At least to these two cuties.

I know I’ve said this about a million times, but I seriously can’t get enough of how much Louis loves his cousins.  And how much his cousins love him.  It’s the sweetest thing, seeing these guys together.  Louis’ face literally lights up at the mere mention of Davey and Annie.  I hope it never goes away – I’d love for them to always be close.

I think it’s a safe bet that little Miss Annie liked having everyone around for her birthday celebration.  It’s always good to have your gal pals surrounding you on your big day, right?

For being December 1st, it was unseasonably warm.  We were outside, playing in the grass without jackets on.  December 1!  What the heck, Mother Nature?  Oh wait.  We got some really cute pictures out of the deal.  Mother Nature – we’re cool.  Don’t worry about it.

I tried to get a nice picture with Lou.  We almost got it – except for the fact that he was more interested in playing football with the big kids than he was taking a picture with his boring mother.  Not the first time and certainly not the last.

All in all, it was a fabulous day.  I keep thinking back to when I first met Miss Annie.  She was never a teeny baby…but she was much smaller than she is now.  She was around one-month old during the first Christmas that I celebrated with the McKinley family.  I was just as much a newbie to the family as she was.  She was stunning from the start.  I look forward to watching her continue to grow and blossom into this wonderful young lady.  (**Sob!)
