Beertastic Brew Bash 2014

Saturday was a freaking blast.  Let’s just get that out of the way.  The Children’s Museum of the Ohio Valley (CMOV) held a fundraiser that Bennett and I couldn’t resist attending.  Local craft beer samples, tons of amazing people from our community and fundraising for a place that Louis loves to go….it was the perfect combination of things to get me out of the house.

It was held in the CMOV’s future home and the place was packed.  It’s so awesome to see a turnout like that.  There were three home-brewing teams that all delivered four seasons worth of beers.  They called this year’s theme “A Beer for All Seasons” and you got to go around and try the different team’s versions of seasonal flavorings.  They also had a craft station set up where you could screen print a bag with the awesome-sauce “Wheeling Alers” design and stitch it up the middle to make a beer/wine bag.  Crafts and beer?  Hellooooooo.

They were speaking my love language.

There is such an excitement in Wheeling right now, in both the younger and older generations.  There is this great push for change and development and we are happy to be a part of it.  I felt like all of the people who inspire us to want more for our beautiful city were all jam packed into the room with us on Saturday.  It’s awesome to be a part of that momentum.

It was also fun to just get out of the house for a “date night” with Bennett.  Music, craft brews, wonderful people, cozying up with my husband…I dig.

I don’t know that numbers, but I’m hoping that this was a successful night of raising funds for the CMOV.  You can tell that the Board worked really hard to make this night happen for all of us and there wasn’t a single person we came across that wasn’t smiling ear to ear the entire night.

A big congratulations goes out to the “Keepers of the Brew” team who SWEPT the competition.  They took medals for every single seasonal favorite, best beer and best overall team.  Woot!  Well deserved, guys.  My favorite (by far!) was the Green Monstah IPA.  Delish.

If this is happening again next year, they should just sign me up already.  I’ll be there.  No doubt.

Check out all of the awesome and somewhat hysterical names of the beers we tried.  Coitus with a Congresswoman?  It didn’t even need to taste good (which it did) because I would have tried it just for it’s name alone.  That’s some marketing there, haha.

Thanks for the great night, Wheeling!
