I Heart Surge Fabric Shop

I Heart Surge Fabric Shop

If you’ve never had the pleasure of drooling over the delightful fabrics that Surge Fabric Shop carries, allow me to introduce you to some.  Kayla, the owner, has this serious habit of spoiling me with extra goodies.  And because they show up as a surprise, I don’t always have them on my immediate list of to-sews…no matter how badly I want to turn them into clothing.

But this past weekend, I distracted Louis and Bennett with a new PS4 and got some extra “just for fun” sewing time in.  Thank you new gaming system!

Sunday Lately :: Week 129

Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, which is fearlessly led by Angelica (Gardening in High Heels) and myself. We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!

This week’s themes: Solving, Hanging, Teaching, Remembering, Restoring.

I’m back for my third share of the Bellisima Mundo fabrics from RP Custom Fabrics.  Sara hooked me up with SO MANY strike offs and I couldn’t help but sew and share them all.  Plus it gives me an excuse to take photos of and with my two handsome guys…so you’ll never find me complaining.

Bennett’s “Mapa” Henley

Bennett’s “Mapa” Henley

Every once in a while, I make special effort to sew for Bennett.  The poor guy just doesn’t get as much love as Louis and me when it comes to sewing.  Most of the reason is that he’s SO DAMN PICKY about fabrics.  However, the latest Bellisima Mundo round from RP Custom Fabrics has allowed me to spoil that cute bearded husband of mine with some new garb.

Yay for customs groups who create things men will wear too!

Take the Plunge Swimsuit by Patterns for Pirates

Me: I’m never going to post photos of myself in a swimsuit on the internet again.
Also me: Hey Internet, here are some photos of me in a swimsuit!

This isn’t my fault.  Blame everything on Judy!  She decided that P4P needed another swimsuit pattern and here we are again.  This time, it’s a one-piece with a fun cross-over bodice…which magically looks AMAZING on every tester.  Want to learn more about it?  Let’s do this!

Vintage Lace | Fall Flash Round!

I. Freaking. Love. Halloween.
I’ve probably mentioned this before on here.  But it’s true.  I’m not all about the blood and gore Halloween…more for the cutesy/dorky/creepy/crawly side of things.

I love themes.  I love costumes.  And I love the creativity behind Halloween.  I just love it all.  So even if I’m sewing strike-off fabrics well out of season, I don’t care.  Because the strikes are Halloween prints and I am ALLLLLLL over it!

Dylan Tee by Made for Mermaids

Dylan Tee by Made for Mermaids

Today’s post is all for the boys!  I’m so excited to share with you the two patterns that I tested for Made for Mermaids: the Dylan Tees.  Wahoo!

They are the counterpart to the Vivienne that I posted yesterday.  And I love that M4M is bringing some love to the boys.  Because I seriously love sewing for Louis and Bennett and I feel that the Y Chromosome is greatly underrepresented in the pattern world.  Kudos to Team Mermaid for making it happen for us!

PATTERN RELEASE DAY IS HERE!!!  It’s like Christmas in the sewing world, am I right?

Made for Mermaids is releasing FOUR patterns all at the same time and I am geeked.  They span the entire family…boys, girls, men and women.  AND they’re fabulous for pattern mixing, which is way up my alley.  I have so many photos to share that I’m going to break it down into two days of posts.  And of course, I’m being a brat and showing off my photos first.  Would you expect any less?

Handmade Boy’s The Fighter Tee | Blog Tour!

Throughout my sewing adventures in the last few years, I’ve met some really great people and made some amazing friends.  I’m honored to say that Kelly from Handmade Boy is one of those sew-friends of mine!  She’s a fabulous maker, but an even more fabulous person.  Why?

Kelly is running in a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital marathon and pledged to raise $1,000 for this very worthy cause.  In the ultimate bout of creative thinking, Kelly decided to create a sewing pattern and donate 100% of the proceeds to her fundraising efforts for the run.  Amazing, right??
