We are here today to ask for your help over the next couple of weeks as our family and my business “adopt a family” for Christmas. This is the fourth year now that we have worked with a local elementary school counselor, to find a family/child that might be down on their luck and could use a little boost…both in spirits and in physical things.
This year is a special case. I can’t really share the details, and I don’t have many to give regardless, but let’s just say that this 11 year old little gal “S” needs SO MUCH love and support. My heart breaks even knowing the little that I do. She’s recently been given a temporary home with some big-hearted people, after living in a shelter for the last 12 months. I feel like it’s time to wrap “S” and her new foster parents in the biggest, warmest, most amazing hug possible.
I believe in the spirit of Christmas and I believe in people helping people.
We have the most amazing network of people and I know we can make this happen for this sweet girl and her new caregivers.
The families didn’t reach out for help themselves. They’re not looking for handouts. I specifically asked the counselor if she knew of some children who would benefit from a little extra support this holiday season.
That’s as much as I really know about them, as we are keeping this as anonymous as possible. For their sake and for ours.
I have a list of things that I would like to collect…such as movies, books, clothing, gift cards, games, arts and crafts, etc. The caregivers have not given any information for themselves but I snuck information out of my contact anyway! They deserve some Christmas love too, right?!
If you are interested in donating, please head over to this google document and sign up for the item(s) you would like to gift this family. If you want to think on it, or have any questions, you can always email me: firstname.lastname@example.org Any and all donations are appreciated more than you can imagine.
Are you an out-of-towner? No problem! I can get you our address so you can ship the items to me, or even utilize your Amazon Prime free shipping and get them to me quickly, at no extra hassle to you. I’ve also set up a donation portal, where you send over however much you can, tell me how to spend it on the family…and I can do the shopping for you!
We do ask that the gifts come to us unwrapped, so we can wrap them all in the same paper and sign it from Santa. That way it’s one big surprise for the whole family. And the gifts need to arrive to me by December 21st, so we have adequate time to wrap and deliver them to the family.
From the bottom of our merry, cheery, mushy, gushy, Christmas-spirited hearts, we thank you.
