Sew Americana :: Day 5

Jun 30, 2017

It’s the final day of our Sew Americana Blog tour, friends.  Holy butts this week has flown by!  I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as I did!  Blog tours can be a lot, and usually there’s some sort of reward or giveaway or whatever….but I chose not to do one with this tour.  And these ladies still bring their best work!  It’s pretty cool, if you think about it.

They just slay, what can I say?

We had a last minute change in line-up and there was a space to be filled on the Friday slot.  So I took it!  Because I have something fun to share that just released yesterday.  Made for Mermaids has been working their mermaid tails off on swimsuits this summer.  I mean…they’ve been working so hard.  I’m not sure any of them have had a full night’s sleep or actual meals in forever.

One of the releases yesterday was the Mama Camila suit.  And I turned it into a bodysuit (my first ever) for the PERFECT 4th of July outfit.

Camila is ten shades of flirty.  She really is.  I never really make any off-the-shoulder numbers because I’m weird about my arms anymore.  But darn it if I don’t love this.

To turn the bathing suit pattern into a basic body suit was easy.  I didn’t line it and I didn’t add cups.  But I did everything else.  I added the underbust elastic, elastic at the leg openings, ruching on the sides, and elastic in the arms.  So basically, I did exactly what the pattern called for, but I did it in a cotton/lycra instead.

My bottoms are fun.  I’ve worn these too many times already.  I should probably make them in an easier-to-match fabric so I can wear more just like it.

I hacked the Patterns for Pirates SOS pants into zippered, non-stretch shorts.  They fit like a glove, are super comfy, the perfect inseam, and I want to make so many more.  My summer has officially been made.

What’s life without an embarrassing photo of yourself on the internet?

I wanted to make sure that I was truly letting you know that I’m wearing a body suit.  So I pulled my pants down.  Because that’s what grown women do.

Here are some links to some stuff. (insert winky kitty face here)

The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
