G+G Festival Fever Blog Tour

You should know by now that I love a good blog tour.  I also love the women I’ve connected with in the sewing world — and generally speaking if Molly (our tour guide) or Kristi (the designer behind George + Ginger) ask if I want to play with them, I jump at it!

George + Ginger is a fun pattern company to follow because they go against the grain a little.  Kristi isn’t afraid to design things that are a little funky and I love her for it.  Her designs are fresh and hip and fun.  And so is she.  Obviously.  They are working on a Festival Collection of patterns this summer and asked if we, as bloggers, wanted to share our version of festival wear.  Newsflash: mine focuses on comfort and I’m like 50 times less cool than the other women on the tour.  Haha.  But that’s not really news, now is it?

I decided I wanted to dress myself for one of my favorite festivals in my town: The Arts and Culture Festival.  I actually was a vendor there a couple of years ago, but we decided to pull back on the amount of shows that we participate in.  We like participating as guests, though!  There are always a ton of kid’s activities and live music and the booths are full of fabulous handmade goods.  It’s the best to just browse through…and it also doesn’t hurt that we know a lot of the vendors, so we get to chat with friends while we’re admiring their handiwork.

My main goal when I attend events is comfort.  Cute comfort.  But comfort nonetheless.  So I decided that my most “Arts and Culture Festival” wear would be this: the Sassy Side Top/Dress.

It’s got just the right level of funky for me to feel at home at an arts fest, doesn’t it?  The side panel, the gathered curved front bodice piece, and when done in contrasting fabrics like this, it spices it up another level.

I chose an ITY fabric for this top because it has been HELLA humid and hot here lately and I wanted something that wouldn’t add to the uncontrollable heat, and I wouldn’t be all gross and sweaty in.  I love ITY in the summer!  And it was perfect for this Sassy Side top too!

      I almost made the dress length of this top…but opted for something I could wear with jeans/shorts.

    I seriously didn’t even think about ITY as an option for the Summer Heat. This Bama weather has me melting away!! I love that you kept with the floral and polka dots. Such a classic combo!

    First off your smile is contagious and I absolutely love the way you mixed these prints. ITY doesn’t get showcased enough and it makes me sad because it is such an amazing base. You totally rocked this, it truly gives an artsy vibe!

    Love, love, love everything about this! My favorite nightdress is ITY– I love how slinky and smooth it is.
