I can’t believe that it’s already time to share the Fabric for Pirates shipment from May! WHERE IS TIME GOING?!?!
The sheen of this fabric made me want to turn it into something that had a flounce or ruffle on it immediately. Who doesn’t love a fabric that inspires flutters?

Tis the season of Katy wearing dresses and skirts as much as possible. I’m particularly smitten with wearing circle skirts, as can be made evident by the bajillion I have in my dresser. What I like is having a top that can go with said circle skirts. I decided to make this month’s fabric into a Francis Flounce, because I LOVE this pattern and it fit into my need of making something with a flounce or ruffle.
Plus, I think it’s elevated this outfit of mine from what truly is a tee + skirt to something with a little extra fanciness. Aren’t these two patterns paired together in such a cute way??
Okay so fabric details:
- Fabric Type: Mini Jacquard
- Width: 58/60″ GSM: 170.00
- Material: 96% Polyester, 4% Spandex

A little lesson about jacquard fabric, in case you haven’t heard of it before.
Jacquard isn’t tied to a singular material, print, or pattern; instead, it signifies a technique employed in fabric production using a specialized loom—the jacquard loom. Unlike conventional methods where colors and designs are applied after weaving, jacquard integrates prints and patterns directly into the fabric during the weaving process.
In terms of this fabric, do you see the ribbing? It’s actually a woven design with teeny tiny holes in it, creating this beautiful texture.

I’ve actually been on a mission lately to add more navy to my closet. I’m sure you’ve seen all of those posts lately about color analysis, and knowing if you’re a spring / summer / winter / fall and how wearing certain colors can compliment your personal coloring. I am a “classic summer”. According to recommendations for my coloring: Summer types look best in pastels and soft neutrals with rose and blue undertones. Lavender, grey, powder pink and baby blue suit summer complexions, but black and orange should be avoided.
Y’all. This is incredibly accurate for me. I’ve been incorporating more pastels into my wardrobe and sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and I’m like “wow, this color really does look good on me.” And I’ve truly noticed that black washes me out. I still wear it once in a while, but I’ve really been drifting towards navy as my “dark base” lately.

More navy is officially added to my closet! Check and check!
