Happy Fabric for Pirates Reveal Day, friends! I’m super pumped to share the fabric that we sent to subscribers this month, because I think it’s so super pretty and perfect for fall and I think everyone needs this fabric in their lives!

So what did we send? Here are the details:
Fabric: 4×2 Yummy Rib Knit
Width: 58/60 GSM: 170
Content: 87% Polyester, 13% Spandex

I think I’ve talked about my love of yummy ribbed knits before, but this one might take the cake. The spandex content is WILD. Like, it’s so stretchy and springy and perfect for basically anything you’d want to make from it. The drape is fantastic, it’s super soft, and with a 13% spandex blend, you can make a form fitting item and not worry about it growing on you while you’re wearing it throughout the day.
Honestly, is there anything worse than feeling super cute in an outfit, and then it becoming baggy and droopy by the minute while you’re wearing it? You’ll never experience that in this month’s fabric, that’s for sure!

If you’re wondering why I kept posing with my arms out like a dork, it’s because I was trying to show off the sleeves of this particular pattern…and being super awkward while doing so, ha. I used the Rainbow Dress pattern from Patterns for Pirates and made zero changes…other than shortening the shirt to more of a top length.

Did you know that the Rainbow Dress pattern has a top option? I forget about it all the time! I was going to make a Dahle top, at first, but I’m still having flashbacks from the amount of elastic I had to use when I was making my bajillion versions during testing, so I decided to opt for something without elastic casings. The Rainbow Dress was my first thought, because it’s one of my favorite dress patterns to make AND it has these fantastic gathered long sleeves.
Isn’t this the cutest fall top? I’m thinking about making a few and bringing them with me to Oglebayfest this year.

Obviously I styled mine with some skinny jeans, but imagine how cute it’d be with a long denim skirt, some palazzo pants, or even some 90’s style wide legged jeans. I’d better get to work…Oglebayfest is less than three weeks from now! WHEW. My serger + coverstitch had better be ready to get a workout!
