I’m a few days behind in sharing this month’s Fabric for Pirates shipment, but I’d never miss an opportunity to sew + share what I made! I’m here bringing up the rear, but still super jazzed to tell you what we sent this month!

And don’t worry. I made it Halloween themed. (I knew you were worried.)

This month, we shipped our subscribers this super soft, super pretty melange brushed sweater knit, in a grey/black color. I was on the hunt for a black + white print, to give a nod to my favorite holiday, but we couldn’t find one that we liked as much as we liked this sweater knit. We kept coming back to it, so we decided we should just stop kidding ourselves and make it happen. I’m glad we did. It’s so perfect. The fabric makes for any cozy sewing project you want to dive into!

Isn’t it so pretty?! I used the Homecoming Hoodie by Patterns for Pirates for my sweater and I’m going to call it right now that this pattern is going to be my 2024 “I made way too many of this one pattern” patterns. Ha. Seriously. I’ve made a couple now and I just love the fit of it. I didn’t make any changes to the pattern, besides cutting the crop length a couple inches longer. It hits at a perfect height for me this way and I’m addicted to this fit. Ugh. It’s so good.

I decided that I didn’t have enough Halloween-specific clothes in my closet (outside of the 309482309482 I’ve already made for myself) so I fired up the Silhouette and cut out this cute HTV design for it. I recently purchased a membership to Creative Fabrica and honestly am not regretting having these ready-made designs at my fingertips. This is one that I downloaded and used, and I think the “Stay Spooky” design is super perfect for my new sweater.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to add it in a black HTV, or if I should have done white to stand out more, but I’m really glad I stuck with black. I like that it’s still obviously a Halloween design, but it’s more subtle than white would have been against the colors in the sweater knit. I think I made the right call. What do you think?
