Happy December 1, y’all! Let me tell you…my life has been a WHIRLWIND of adventures.
I started a new career on November 4, and since then I’ve basically lost time due to new job training brain mush. The holidays SNUCK UP on me this year because of the timing of everything! I’m had big plans to get multiple days of freebies ready for you on here, but you’ll maybe just have to wait until next year to get the full load of ideas I had going for you.
I can happily say that I do have a gift for you, ready to go! Let’s talk about the Granny Sweater Ornaments!!

For the last two years, I’ve brought these ornaments with me to the festivals that I am a vendor at, and people have loved them! They’re so sweet and festive and can be made in so many different color variations (think sports teams / schools!) so they’re super customizable, for yourself or a person you’re gifting it to!
This tutorial is a video only, there’s nothing to download. So you can head straight to YouTube to see the full video.
I don’t teach you how to crochet in this download, so you’ll need to know the basics for sure. The stitches used to create these squares are as follows:
- Double Crochet
- Slip Stitch
- Chain Stitch
- Magic Ring
For my sweater ornament in the video, I used a Christmas-inspired color combo, all with the JoAnn line of yarns called 'Big Twist Value'. It’s an acrylic yarn that is pretty soft and has a wide variety of colors. I’ve converted to this brand for most of my crochet projects because I have a JoAnn local to me, and they always have these yarns in stock. Consistency is key, am I right?

The yarn colors I used are:

And here’s the full video tutorial for these cutie pies! They are so simple to whip up. If you’ve ever made a hexi cardigan before, then you already know how to do this…it’s just the first three rounds of each sleeve. Teeny, tiny, adorable.
I am full of Christmas cheer and super ready to see what you’ve made from this simple tutorial! I hope you make a bunch this holiday season, they’d be such great gifts!
Pretty please with sugar on top share with me if you end up making something for yourself! I’d die to see your work! Don’t forget to tag me #wildandwanderfulblog (I’m @wildandwanderfulblog on Instagram). The idea of seeing something you’ve created from a tutorial I shared gives me ALL THE FEELS. Don’t leave me hanging!
