Fabric for Pirates :: January 2025 Reveal

Jan 26, 2025

Happy new year, fellow fabric lovers! I have been MIA for a couple of months while I’ve been attempting to catch my footing with my switch in careers. But I’ve missed sewing + sharing and talking about fabric on here. So I’m clawing my way back and hoping to kick some 2025 ass!

And what better way to start than by sharing the first of the fabrics that we’ll be shipping for the 2025 season with Fabric for Pirates?

Bows are super on trend right now, and we were super excited to have found this sweet print when we were searching for January’s shipment. I love that it’s more subtle than some prints, but it’s almost like those ditzy florals that I love so much. Plus, being on a navy base is a huge bonus for me. I always love how this color looks against my coloring…and yet somehow I barely have any navy in my closet. I seriously need to seek more out.

So what did we send, exactly? I think it’s actually a lot like yummy ribbed knit, but different. I know that doesn’t make total sense, but it does to me. It is a super soft, stretchy ribbed knit. But it has a slightly different feel to it. It’s not brushed like yummy rib, but otherwise I’d say it’s super close to that base. When we ordered it, it was labeled as “cotton feel”, but I’m not sure I agree with that totally. Whatever it is, I really like it. It’s super versatile and can be turned into basically anything.

Fabric: “Cotton Feel” Ribbed Knit
Width: 58/59″ GSM: 1230
Material: 94% Polyester, 6% Spandex

I wanted to make something more exciting from this gorgeous print. Like a pretty dress, or a wrap top, or something.

But I was drawn to the idea of just making a basic. And what better basic than a Basic Tee? I have about a million sweaters in my closet to wear during the fall/winter season, but I always wish I had more long sleeved tees. Sometimes the idea of a sweater knit against my skin gives me the ick. I’m not sure why. It comes and goes.

This Basic Tee will 100% help me on my ick days. I love how it fits.

A little birdie told me that we have a few more packages of this fabric available, ready to ship! You can grab an extra HERE.

What would you be making with this fabric?
