Despite protests from my husband and son about “it not yet being Halloween because it’s still September”, I am completely ready for Spooky Season. I’ve done all I can to hold off on pulling out my Halloween-themed clothing and earrings…but that hasn’t stopped me from making ::new:: themed items to wear once October officially hits!
I saw an ad for an appliquéd ghost shirt and decided I needed to make my own version. So here we are! And I love it!

I had zero patience for going out and shopping for fabrics that I wanted to use for my little ghosties, so I decided to just go ahead and sublimate some designs of my own onto some fabric instead. If you head to THIS POST, you can find a full rundown of how I made my appliques, PLUS I have some freebie downloads for both the sublimation files and the applique piece to make your very own version.
I was laughing about this sweater because it’s exactly the type of top I’d be making fun of moms for wearing in the 90’s when I was a kid. And here I am, going out and making my own and then taking photos and bragging out how much I love it. Ha! I guess I should go back and apologize for all of the snide preteen/teen remarks I made back then.

I used the Patterns for Pirates Homecoming Hoodie as a base for this Ghost Crew getup. It’s now my go-to pattern for when I want a basic sweater/sweatshirt. Of course, I use a pattern with the word “hoodie” in it and never make a hooded version, but I’m just not a fan of hoods. If I ever make something with a hood, it’s always the last thing I grab, so I just avoid making things with that feature now. After a while you just fall into a rhythm of sewing what you know you’d wear, ya know?

No but seriously, didn’t this turn out to be just the cutest? I’m 99% sure I will be sneaking it into my wardrobe before that required October 1 date. Wouldn’t you?
