One in a Minion | Free Printable

Feb 12, 2014

I was a little last minute on getting Louis’ school Valentine’s Day cards.  So I apologize for getting these out to you now but they are super simple to make (last minute like me!) or maybe keep them in mind for next year?

Bennett and I aren’t really into celebrating V-Day.  Not because we’re too cool for it…but we are that annoyingly mushy-gushy couple year round and there’s no need to put extra stuff into one day just because it was deemed a holiday.

But Valentine’s cards?  Hell. Yes.

I’ve been waiting for this moment since Louis was a wee babe.  Also read: I’m crazy.

Here’s what you need:

–Strawberry Shortcake rolls (or twinkies or anything that’s shaped like this with a clear wrapper)
–White paper
–Black & silver markers
–Double sided tape (the best thing ever when doing paper crafts!)
–Printable (grab it via the form above)
–Kraft paper or any cardstock
–2” circle punch // scissors
–Black construction paper // black vinyl

Punch or cut circles out for the minion’s eyes.  I opted to just do the one-eyed little dudes.  I’m sure you could handle the ones with two eyes without a problem!  Draw a black circle in the middle of that eyeball.  Not shown in the step above: I used a silver marker and colored an outside ring on each eye to make them look a little more like the goggles they wear.

Cut your construction paper into strips that are 5 inches x .5 inches.  I used black vinyl because it’s already sticky and I didn’t have to mess with much but if you don’t have that readily available, black paper is fine…just double sided tape the two ends.

Tape the eyes over the black strip to cover where it meets.  And then if you’d like, draw a simple little crooked smile.  It kind of just added to the whole design and appeal of the minions.

Print/cut your cards out.  The template I’ve made is [HERE] and free to use…for personal use only, please.  I used Kraft paper because I can’t get enough of that brown, recycled goodness.  Any other color would work great too.

Sign your cards (I signed because Louis was very much not interested in this step) and double-sided tape your minions onto the card in the designated blank space.

Boom.  Done.  So easy, right?

I’m excited for Louis to hand these cuties out tomorrow at school.  Maybe a little too excited.  It’s another first moment for him that I can’t help but be a little giddy over the whole thing.
