My Favs on Thursdays is a weekly linkup that I co-host with my girls Nicole (Designs by Nicolina) and Meghan (Hayes Days).
What is your favorite thing this week? Don’t forget to add your link to the bottom of this post.
I’d like to consider myself a hard worker. A dedicated “employee” to my home-based business. Someone who goes way over the 40-hour work week to make sure I get everything done and have happy customers.
But when a certain little boy looks at me with his beautiful blue eyes and says, “Let’s have a Momma-Louis date,” absolutely everything gets dropped and I make it happen. No work is ever more important than one-on-one time with the kiddo.
There is a fairly new business in Wheeling called “Art With a Twist”. It’s located in the Centre Market District of our sweet little town and I simply adore it. We’ve only been in a couple of times but never to sit down and get to business on painting something. I thought it’d be the perfect date place for Louis and me.
There are a ton of ceramics to choose from. Mugs, plates, functional things, decorative things…the works. It took a bit for Louis to settle on something but we picked a gingerbread man plate. I was thinking it’d be super fun to give cookies to Santa on plate that we’d made.
They had a bunch of colors of glaze to pick from. We settled on the traditional g-man colors. And of course Louis threw a little blue into the mix. You know. To shake things up a bit. He’s a wild man.
We left it there for the owner to fire for us. I tried to explain to Louis that we will have a beautiful, shiny plate once it’s all over. I think he mildly grasped the concept. He wasn’t even sad that we had to leave it there (which is something I had kinda prepared myself for). I think we get to snatch our cute plate on Friday and bring him home with us. I’m so excited!
Art With a Twist is great for moments like this, when Louis and I randomly decided to do something together. Walk-ins are welcome and the prices are pretty great. They also offer different event nights (Glaze ‘n Sip) and you can schedule parties there. AND, something I find super cute, they’re having a Spider-Man painting event where the kiddos get to paint a Spider-Man ornament and Spider-Man is there in person to have them hang out and take pictures with. So awesome!
I’m glad this gem exists in our little city. I think this would be super fun to return to with my niece and nephew in-tow.
Whatttttt? Spider Man? They should have him at the sip and glaze. I haven't been to a pottery painting studio in yearsssss. We have two here in Athens. I remember it being so relaxing.
Relaxing is never a thing with Louis. 🙂 But it was super fun. Painting isn't my number one strong suit but it was fun to try. I'm excited to see the finished product.
