My Favs on Thursdays is a weekly linkup that I co-host with my girls Nicole (Designs by Nicolina) and Meghan (Hayes Days).
What is your favorite thing this week? Don’t forget to add your link to the bottom of this post.
I have a serious confession to make. I’ve been staying up way, way, way past my bedtime for the last week to cross stitch. I’m obsessed and addicted and all of the things I shouldn’t be over a craft. It’s bad.
I used to cross stitch all of the time and then it kind of fell by the wayside when I picked up crocheting. But now it’s back in full force and I won’t quit until I finish what I’ve started.
I blame it all on my Instagram feed. I follow so many talented makers on there and a bunch of them are in the embroidery aspect of life. One of the people I follow/stalk on IG has been posting pictures of her completed work on this very particular cross stitch pattern that I finally broke down and bought. I couldn’t help myself. It’s so cute.
There is an awesome designing duo that run “The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery”. Their designs are all so stinking cute that I want to make them all. No joke. I WANT ALL OF THEM!! Muahahaha.
Anyway. The one that drew me in the most was their 2014 Once Upon a Time Sampler. Why a sampler? They release a portion of the design on the first of the month each month until you complete all twelve monthly squares that make up one giant, amazingly stitched product. It’s like a subscription service for stitching. We won’t know what the next month’s design even looks like so it keeps you guessing. All you know is that it’s on theme and will be super cute.
I, of course, am a giant idiot and didn’t join until the tenth month of the year. So I’m scrambling to catch up. (The photo above is their sample image and most certainly not mine. I wish I were that far along!) I will have had the pattern for a week on Friday and I’ve almost got two months completed. I think that’s pretty decent progress. I’m on their email list now so I will most likely jump on board with their 2015 Sampler when it begins.
They just released their Christmas Celebration Sampler that I wish I had time to join in on. Next year I will be fully prepared for these stitching shenanigans. Let’s hope.
That fairy tale sampler is right up my alley. My patience is not what it used to be and is better than it used to be in some senses, but I highly doubt I could focus on cross stitching. It's hard enough for me to focus on sewing!
It's actually highly addictive. I think you'd like it. Even if you walk away from it for a while…it's always nice to come back to. Keeps my hands busy. 🙂
