I spent the majority of last week on a beautiful island in the Caribbean. Why, you ask? My oldest brother, Billy, was getting married and wanted us to all witness it in person. We weren’t able to have Bennett and me both go, so instead I was my Mom’s date.
Apparently some people really thought we were dates. Because when we landed in St. Lucia, someone referred to me as her “partner”. My mom is a cougar, guys! She’s dating someone 25 years younger than her! Haha.
The weather was beautiful. It rained on and off every day we were there, but it was never enough to affect anything we were doing. Just a downpour or a sprinkle here or there and then it was done. The sun was back and we were on the move again. We stayed at the Halcoyn Sandals resort while we were there, venturing off of the resort only once. There was an insane amount of things to do (among attending the actual wedding events) so it wasn’t really necessary to leave. The staff there is crazy fun to talk to, play volleyball against, sing and dance with, etc.
Sierra and I participated in water aerobics and it was hands down the best decision I made while I was there. We were dancing and moving to pop music with a bunch of old people. Hysterical. Mostly because there were two older gentlemen that kept making inappropriate jokes and Sierra and I couldn’t stop laughing about it.
The wedding itself was beautiful. What else do you expect, though? We danced our butts off during the reception, only after crying buckets of tears during everyone’s speeches. I’m a sucker for weddings. Or anything lovey or sappy. It’s even worse when it’s a wedding of someone I love.
Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Billy’s best man has been a part of our family since we moved to Hersey, Michigan back when I was in Kindergarten. He KILLED it on his speech. And then seeing my Dad get emotional when he got up to talk basically made me be a blubbering idiot. Followed by Billy and Meaghan thanking everyone and them bringing me to a sobbing mess. I actually had to excuse myself to my room so I could compose myself.
And then I threatened to throat punch the next person to give a speech. I was only half kidding. I had all the feels.
PS. My Momma is crazy beautiful. Even if she doesn’t see it, I do. So I’m going to put this picture right here for you guys to admire her as well.
It was tough to be away from Bennett and Louis for so long. But I will admit that the surroundings made it a tad bit easier (and perhaps the fact that the booze was included in my stay, hehe). I had a fabulous time with my family and I couldn’t be happier for Billy and Meaghan.
I do wish I’d taken more photos but I didn’t want to have to lug my camera everywhere with me. That, and having my camera so close to water all of the time made me nervous. I’m hoping to get some copies from everyone else that covers all of the holes I have from my adventures on the island.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Boltze! And welcome to the family Meaghan! I hope you know what you’ve gotten yourself into with this family of ours. 🙂
First, she spells her name wrong. Sorry. It's gotta be said. Otherwise, your pictures make me long for a little Florida. A smidgen of warmth would be amazing. I've been enjoying these past few days though. You dress turned out great. Also your momma is very pretty. You favor her.
I have a hard time jumping back and forth between all of the spellings of your name! 🙂 I'll let her know that a change needs to be made. Maybe she can sneak that in when she changes her last name as well. Ha!
