Sunday Lately :: Week 2

Jan 11, 2015

Welcome back to Week #2 of the linkup with Nicole, Meghan and myself!
This week’s themes: Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, Expecting

Doing. All the things I’m not supposed to be doing…and none of the things I am.  But that’s nothing new.  I am leaving on Tuesday morning at the butt-crack of dawn to head to St. Lucia for my brother’s wedding.  So instead of tying up the loose ends around the house, I’m distracted by fun stuff like sewing.  Whoops.

Appreciating. Weekend afternoons that involve taking Louis with me on errands and shopping trips to Target.  First on our list today was getting him an incredibly long-overdue haircut.  I think subconsciously I put these haircuts off because his shaggy hair makes him look younger…clean cut makes my baby not look so baby anymore.  I mean, look at this side-by-side!  It’s only an hour difference in time.  :: sob ::

Designing. Some new things for the shop.  But mostly in my head right now.  I honestly haven’t had the chance to put myself fully back into the mindset of post-Christmas craziness yet.  I think mostly because I got back into the flow (kinda) and now have to leave for a week.  Which will throw me off again.  Or more.  Whichever.

Humming. “Call Me Maybe”.  Ugh.  I’ll tell you why.  First, every time I go to write about or do something for Sunday Lately, Nicole’s rendition comes to mind.  It’s been stuck in my head all day and I successfully got it in Bennett’s this morning as well.  Considering I am not a fan of today’s pop music, it sucks when I get a chorus to a song in my head that I’ve never even heard in it’s entirety.

Hey I just met you, and this is crazy
but if you’ve got writers block
link up with Sunday Lately!
Bennett and I have this terrible game that we play with each other.  It doesn’t have a name but it probably should.  We try and get a song stuck in the other person’s head…and if we do, we get bragging rights of “owning” them.  It might sound lame but it’s actually the devil when you’ve been defeated.  Louis has recently begun to start playing and he’s actually really good at it.  Mostly because he gets the lyrics wrong and I correct him, thus getting the song in my head in an instant.  He’s a genius.

Expecting. Tuesday morning to be incredibly hard on me.  Getting on a plane and being so far away from Bennett and Louis is going to basically kill me.  We are a tight-knit trio and hardly spend any time apart.  I mean, at all.  Take what you’d like from that, but we just enjoy being around each other.  And I think we are aware that our days with Louis are numbered.  He’s not always going to be needing us so much in the later years and we are trying to soak it all up while we can.  Five days without them is going to be rough.  Super rough.  Thank goodness for FaceTime.  That’s all I’m saying.

    Hope you're getting lots of SLEEP and sunshine on your vacay! 5 days is long, but also short. Maybe it will recharge your battery just the right amount. Also, who is this insanely old, well-groomed child on the right? This is why we keep Otto looking like Cousin It.

    Ooh, St. Lucia! If you have to be away from and missing your family, I'd say that's the place.

    It's your fault that I have Call Me Lately stuck in my head every single Sunday. Just saying. 🙂

    Maybe I should let Louis look like Cousin It. It's possible that look would be better on my fragile Momma heart.

    It's true. It was crazy beautiful there. And FaceTime helped a lot. Luckily, five days goes by quickly when you're being pampered and drinking free booze…so I'm home now and we've been snuggling and smooching all morning.
