Sunday Lately :: Week 4

Jan 25, 2015

We’ve made it through four weeks of Sunday Lately linkups!  Woot!  Let’s keep the party going!
This week’s themes: Updating, Reminding, Needing, Amusing, Being

Updating: My wardrobe with a lot of new sewing projects.  I’m sorry if you’re a follower of this blog and you feel like you’ve seen about a million photos of me smiling for the camera awkwardly in new clothes that I’ve sewn.  But it’s not ending quite yet.  I’ve tapped into a network of awesome women who create and share up-to-date trends in clothing that we can make with our own sewing machines at home.  And I love it.

Reminding: Myself about my 2015 resolutions.  One of my biggest ones is to learn “self-love”.  Which might sound funny but it’s something I’ve struggled with my whole life.  I’ve always been outwardly confident and inwardly a mess of a person and I’m trying to figure out how I can change that.  I even saw it with my Momma and sister when we were in St. Lucia last week.  We all tear ourselves apart and focus on the things we don’t like, rather than realize how amazing the big picture is.  Bennett gets after me all the time about this.  2015 is my year to make me love me a little more.

Needing: To keep working on getting back into a routine.  Last week was a good start.  Now I need to keep the ball rolling.  I’ve got a list a mile long of things I’d like to try or make happen for my shop…and I can’t get to them if I can’t get the things that are most important and pending under control.  I think I’ll master this over the next couple of days, no problem.

Amusing: Myself with photos from the last few years of our lives.  Yes, I’m still working on 2011’s scrapbook.  But I’m nearing the end so I can almost start on the next year and then only be three years behind instead of four.  Win?  Perhaps.  But it’s a hoot when I get to look back at pictures like the one below and see how much we’ve changed in such a short amount of time.  Bennett and I look like babies!!  And so does Louis, obviously.  That was a given.

Being: An uncontrollable crazy person when it comes to the pests in our house.  You think I’d be used to it by now.  We live in a home that was built in the early 1900’s and it’s big with a giant basement.  Surrounded by woods.  So we get everything under the sun in here.  I can handle my fair share of bugs that come around these parts…but when a mouse enters my general area?  All hell breaks loose.  Bennett saw one in my studio the other day and I almost refused to go in there.  I was terrified of my toes being eaten off while I was sewing.  Isn’t that nuts?  We ended up catch-and-releasing that little toe-eater into the great outdoors and I haven’t seen signs of him since.  But that doesn’t mean I’ve let my guard down.  No way, no how.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

    I'm also in the process of updating my wardrobe with new sewing projects. I have determined that this is the year I finally do a little selfish sewing! Love the cardigan!

    I always laugh about the "selfish sewing" term. Maybe because it's all I seem to do when I can get in front of the sewing machine. With the exception of things for Louis and Bennett every once in a while…but I just like to sew for myself. It's cheaper than buying these trends. And Louis' clothes cost like $3/shirt. (Or maybe that's how I make myself feel okay about it, hehe.)

    I am a terrible person and have missed both weeks of your sunday lately posts. Oy. We all had a very similar "reminding" theme. Expectations and self-love are all interconnected. It's something you have an internal struggle with no matter what I think. It's the part where you keep yourself balanced. Also I know in my heart that you can get and keep to a schedule. (Just trying to motivate you a little.)

    I love seeing sewing projects! I have a machine and know how to use it for basic things, but the fact that you can wear your creations in public is amazing to me!

    I'm so behind on scrapbooks too. The past few years, I've just saved up Birchboxes and thrown little trinkets in there. I should get a little more organized because I miss creating so much!
