Saving Art.

Mar 4, 2015

We have a million and one pieces of art from Louis and are running out of have run out of wall space to display it on.  Oh the struggles of parents of a youngster.  Not joking what-so-ever.  The only available wall in my craft room/studio is covered in things Lou has made.  And I can’t bring myself to get rid of them!  WAAAH!

So for now, just to give myself peace of mind, we’ve come up with a solution.  We are going to make a book of Louis’ art.  We will store all of his adorable work in a 12×12 album that we can easily flip through.  So excited about this.  And yet a little nervous about how many books are about to fill our shelves over the next few years of his life.  Between things he makes at home and all of the crazy cute things at school…we are never lacking in Louis-made decor.

I’m hoping this will work for now.  I was putting this off because I had ambitions to scan/photograph each item and then turn everything into a printed book like we use for our regular family albums.  But I’m worried that I’ll never get around to it and the problem will just grow and grow.

Does anyone else have a solution for the over abundance of save-ables from their kiddos?  I’m all ears!

Until then, this will have to do.  I basically love everything Louis makes for us.  So having it all in one place to browse through is kind of the best thing in the entire world.  But you know. I just love that kiddo to pieces.

The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

I've also heard of photographing the art with the child and printing/binding that, but again, I could see it becoming overwhelming. And then the parents just throw out the art!? I'd be mad if I was a kid and my parents did that. I love that your method preserves the art and saves some space!

So here's another problem with photographing them….what do you do with the originals? Throw them out? I'd most likely save them and then have a million pieces of art, doubled. Haha. Why is this such a struggle for me?
