Oh man. This week has been crazy. No joke. Maybe one day I’ll write out all of the stupid and crappy things my sweet Momma had to go through with her move. And then her second move because the house was unlivable and she had to find a new place to live before she could even move into the last one. Nutso. But I think we are officially on a path to better things. Fingers crossed.
But enough about that for now. Let’s get down to business!
This week’s themes: Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, Expecting.
Doing. Lots of driving this week. We’ve bounced back and forth between New Castle, PA (my Momma’s new place of residence) and Fort Wayne, IN (where my sister lives). I used to love traveling. In fact, I drove myself to and from Michigan and WVU a million times a year back when I was in college. Alone. And happily. Now, driving 20 minutes to get to the only nearby fabric store will be an incredibly difficult internal debate because I don’t want to drive that far. Also read: I am a crotchety old lady who can’t handle anything anymore. Lou, however, is awesome at traveling. Kiddo is so patient in the car (way more so than me) and he especially loves when trips involve staying a hotel.
Appreciating. My husband. Where do I begin? He drove my mother from Idaho to West Virginia, safely, in two days. Yes. TWO days. Miracle worker. And then, he’s gone beyond that and gone up to New Castle to move all of her stuff and be a handyman. He even sent my Mom with me this weekend to visit my sister and her family and Bennett stayed back to do a ton of heavy lifting and moving for her. Which also leads me to appreciating his friend Aaron…who also worked his butt off all day Saturday to move my Momma’s things out of one house and into another. I am beyond indebted to those two.
Designing. New goodies. Yay! Hats with fun fabrics stitched onto them are a total go. I can’t freaking wait to see how they do with my customers.
Humming. Lady Gaga songs, mostly. Louis loves to jam to the majority of her songs and I can’t help but start singing them as well. She has catchy music, that’s for sure!
Expecting. A bit less Mickey Mouse in my life after this week. It seems that the only things I was making had ears on them. My niece’s 2nd birthday party on Saturday was Minnie themed and I made her a dress, as well as a cute shirt for Louis. And then I finally got around to writing up the crochet pattern for a Mickey Mouse-inspired coffee cozy for Nicole’s blog. For not being a “crazy Disney person” like so many I’ve encountered through Happily Ever Tees, I certainly had a lot of Disney happening in my life.
I'm not a hat person, but I want one of those. F'real. I am amazed that Bennett is the superman he is. I don't know anyone who would want to pack up and move for a mother-in-law. You have a good one there. I'm so happy to hear that your mom is on a path of good house vibes!
It's actually hard to be married to such a nice person sometimes. Because I'm always the mean one then! (I wish I were kidding…I used to be the nice one until I was compared to this guy.) He's been such a champ. But I don't think he'll be volunteering for any cross-country trips again anytime soon.
I feel you on that one! Jonathan never says a bad thing about anyone and here I am like, "Can you believe this person? Gosh, my family suxxxxxx."
