Five Favorites.

May 2, 2015

AngelicaMeghan and I are all challenging ourselves to blog every day during the month of May.  We are hoping you can join in too!
Today’s prompt: Five Favorites.

One :: SEWING

I have been sewing since I was a little girl.  The first thing I remember actually making was a stuffed teddy bear for my BFF back in elementary school when she was moving away.  I took pictures of us and ironed them onto the paws and belly.  Now thinking about it, I should probably ask her if she still has it.  I’d love to see my handiwork.  I took a quilting class with my Momma back in middle/high school and I went to college with a sewing machine.  But I didn’t “really” get heavy into sewing until the last few years.  I’ve really found a stride with sewing clothing for me and my family of three.  It’s been super awesome and liberating and I love putting a needle to some newly cut fabric.

Two :: COFFEE

In particular, iced coffee.  I have an addiction to Starbucks Venti iced coffees, black, with cinnamon dolce flavoring.  It’s so good.  The flavor changes by season (because pumpkin spice or caramel brulee RULE) but the drink remains.  I like hot coffee for my first drink in the morning and after that, I prefer a cold drink.  Out of a straw.  And if it’s not water or beer, it’s iced coffee.  It’s a habit I cannot seem to break.

Three :: CROCHET

I actually started into the Etsy world by posting a white owl hat that I crocheted.  Basically the first time I successfully made a hat.  When someone bought it right away, the taste of making-for-money became too sweet…and I couldn’t stop.  Without that first sale (thank you Jamie!) I wouldn’t be where I am today.  I’m sure of it.

Four :: MARVEL

Before marrying Bennett, I never knew that I would become the super hero junkie that I am today.  Before you get all angry and call me out on not being a big enough fanboy like you are…deep breaths.  I’m not pretending to be the biggest fan ever.  But I certainly do love me some Marvel characters.  Louis does too.  Last night, we went to see Avengers: Age of Ultron in the most packed theater I’ve been to in a long time.  We even got a babysitter so we could go see it.  And I made shirts for the both of us.  I’ve seen so many shows and read so many books at this point that I know origin stories and political issues between so many fictional character it’s crazy.  But I love it.

Five :: NSYNC

If you didn’t love the original boyband from the 90’s…you and I probably can’t be friends.  Not joking.  I have loved NSync forever now and am still holding out for a reunion tour.  A little piece of me died when they didn’t have a skit/appearance on SNL’s anniversary show this year.  But it’s all good, because I blast their Christmas album from November 30 until the day after Christmas every single year.  I make sure to get a full blown amount of teen crooning.  It feeds my soul.

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!

    So every one of these I was like Yep, I like that..and that..and that…and then I came to NSYNC and lol'ed. I was totally more for NSync than BSB, but I was a total country music nerd in the 90s. Blame my parents! I do have like 3 NSync albums on my iPod though. Totally adding to my marathon mix.

    I love that you can remember when you started sewing and can remember your first Etsy sale. That is amazing! So glad you're still creating today. And cheers to iced coffee!

    Ha! I am actually a 90's country fan, big time. NSync was pretty much my gateway into pop music, so I could keep up with my friends' taste in music. Maybe it's why I love them so much. But most days, my music of choice are Pandora stations by Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons and 90's Country Hits. Nothing beats 90's country, girlfriend. Nothing!

    90s country music was hands down the golden age for country music. So much greatness out of that decade from new folks and the old greats.

    True. Story. My wedding will end with a little Garth Brooks; I've already decided that. I have such a mix of music on my iTunes account and the majority of it didn't translate over when I switched from HP to Mac – such a shame.

    It truly was! My first concert was Brooks and Dunn. I will never forget that haha.

    Of course we both talk about coffee. Life. Blood. Man may not be able to live on bread alone, but I think I might could make it on coffee.

    Brooks and Dunn!!! Whoop whoop!! I was also a Jo Dee Messina fan, the early Toby Keith and Tim McGraw stuff was my jam. If only country music was still that good.

    Yes, yes, and yes! Dixie Chicks, SHeDaisy, Shania freakin' Twain…oh it was so good. Now it's all about day drinking and girls in bikinis.

    I was one of the weird kids that couldn't have an iPod because I had to be different and ended up with a Zen. 60-something gigs of music all lost when that stupid thing died. While most of it was illegally downloaded, I mourn the loss of all those amazing decades of tunes.

    If it makes you feel any better, I worked in the Digital Imaging/ Wireless department at Best Buy and we used to try and push the Zens the most because they were really a friendlier item for the majority of the population. Oh the days before Apples took over handheld devices… 😉

    Lonestar. Sawyer Brown. Tim McGraw (before he got super pop culture). Faith Hill. Brooks & Dunn. EVERYONE. They were all solid and actual country musicians. Not these pop-fused songs that literally only involve drinking beer. :: snore ::
