Mama Ella (Update) by Made for Mermaids

Jul 28, 2016

Psssst!!  Made for Mermaids just released an update to the Mama Ella (and girl’s Ella) tops today.  You should probably get it on it.  The Mama Ella is one of the flirtier of the patterns I’ve sewn in a while and it’s all because of the back.

Wha-pow! I mean.  Is Ella bringing sexy back, or what?

I tested the high-back, dress length in size Indigo.  It’s a super forgiving silhouette, without feeling like I’m wearing a sack.  And the high-back still dips low enough that it feels sexy, without showing a ton of skin.  (Or in my case, potential back fat. #seriouslythough)

I totally picked the lazy-train version of sewing and hemmed my dress with a lace trim.  I wasn’t sure if it would make it feel too “young” or not, but I of course ended up loving it.  Let’s add lace trim to all the things now!!

The day I needed to take these photos, it was an EPIC downpour at our house.  And hot as balls.  So please try and excuse this hot, sweaty version of me.  I’m usually a teeny bit more put together.  Or at least these are the lies I tell myself.

I suppose I should give full credit to the neckline of the Mama Ella as well.  I love a good scooped neck.  Momma Katy needs to show off what she’s got, you know?  All in all, Ella is an insanely quick sew.  Super flattering.  And has a little extra level of sass and sexy thrown in.  A+ in my book.

Well done, Team Mermaid!!

I know you want to get your hands on this pattern.
And it’s on sale for a limited time, so get to moving!

Katy, I LOVE this dress on you! I wonder, did you sew one size specifically or did you grade at the waist/hips? I love the fit of this, I want mine to be just like it!
