Papa, Mama + Baby Bear Joggers by Patterns for Pirates

Nov 10, 2016

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.  Get ready to see a million pictures of my new favorite pattern from Judy.  Well…not pattern, but PATTERNS.  With an s!  We’ve been working on these joggers in the background for quite some time now and it’s finally release day.  ::cue dance music::

PS.  Aren’t these names just the cutest?

Let’s talk Mama Bear first.  Because I’m the momma and it’s my blog and I can do what I want.  I ended up being able to photograph three of the pairs that I’ve made…however I’ve pretty much covered all of the many options that are offered in the pattern several times over.

I’ve tried joggers on in stores.  Because they’re so well loved and I figured I should love them too.  However, I always hate them on me.  So often joggers accentuate my child-bearing hips…rather than compliment them.  And I’ve never once owned a pair.  Until now.  Yay Judy for not disappointing me, basically ever!

The first version I’m sharing are elastic hemmed, patch pockets and a yoga waistband.  I’ve also paired a P4P placketless henley with it for photos.  With “Slow Slow Quick Quick Slow” printed on it…which are the steps for tango.  Because I made this outfit and then went to rehearsal for DWTOVS, so it obviously needed to be themed.  Haha.

Also, you guys were really missing booty shots on here, weren’t you?  No worries.  It’s covered.

My second pair is a cuffed hem, drawstring waistband, with slat pockets.  Sorry!  I didn’t make any of my tops  (for shame!) however I did have this “Momma Bear” shirt in my closet from way back during the Grandpa Cardi test and couldn’t resist wearing it for photos.  I mean.

And finally, for me at least, is one of the first “final” versions that I I made myself.  They are cuffed hem, slat pockets, and an elastic-only waistband.  And I have it paired with a P4P Sweet Tee…with more dance related lingo.  Because I made myself a lot of dance shirts!  So sue me!

Now onto the Baby Bear Joggers!  I adore these for Louis.  He’s all about his “comfy clothes” right now and I think it’s because he is usually found in uniforms during long days at school.  So lounge clothes are something he’s finally been requesting and enjoying.

It’s hard to tell because he’s wearing high-tops, but Louis has the roll-up hem option, with patch pockets and an elastic hem without the drawstring.  I LOVE these pants on him.  No joke.

Paired with his outfit is the YoHo Henley that I made during Pokemon week on Project Run + Play.

And last but not least, is the Papa Bear Joggers pattern.  Since I was spending so much time with Walker during Dancing With the Ohio Valley Stars training…I figured I would rope him into all of my crazy testing/photography schemes.  He agreed and got a brand new pair of custom fit joggers out of the deal, so I guess it’s not so bad to know a girl who sews, right?  Though, admittedly, it’s weird to say “Papa” and “Walker” together.

Walker’s joggers are a cuffed hem (adjusted for a longer inseam because he’s a million feet tall), slat pockets, and an elastic waist without the drawstring option.

Bennett is well accustomed to me needing him for testing.  Joggers aren’t something that he is used to wearing but he’s worn them a few times around the house since they were made, so I’ll take that as a win.  I’m constantly calling Bennett by pet names and basically anything that isn’t his actual name.  “Papa Bear” is a common one that I send his direction, so I’m going to pretend that Judy named and made all of these patterns just for our trio.

Thanks girl. 😉

For my handsome, bearded hubby, I made a cuffed hem (adjusted for a 30″ inseam since Bennett’s height apparently is ALL torso), patch pockets, and an elastic waistband without the drawstring.

Whew.  That was a lot of photos and info, right?  Well…I’ve got more coming your way.

Love this post! i just downloaded this pattern and printed it. I’m having problems with piecing the pattern together though. The lines on the pattern and the pages don’t match up, not even close. Did you have this problem? It just makes me nervous, I don’t want to ruin the whole thing because I didn’t piece and tape the papers correctly to begin with. Any advice? Thanks!
