The Force Awakens | Cute Kid Edition

Apr 8, 2017

My sister was planning a visit with her two babies and I COULD NOT resist making them coordinating outfits.  It just needed to happen.  And is there seriously a better trio of characters to turn them into than the newest heroes from the Star Wars Universe?  I seriously had so much fun making these outfits.

Like always, I wanted to make sure the clothes were wearable after the fact…but still a form of cosplay.  It’s my “everyday cosplay” style that i love to put Louis in.  And I LOVE how they turned out!

The first outfit I tackled was Delilah’s garb, so I could turn her into Rey.  Her three pieces were all pretty easy to pair together.  I wanted the drapey look that Rey has in her clothes, but also to allow her three pieces to be mixed easily into her everyday wear.

I used the Butterfly Cardigan for the top layer, and adjusted the front bodice pieces to be a cross over…as well as made the sleeves extra long so they would be a little more bunched.  I created a “square circle skirt” for the peplum portion of the Me Hearties Peplum/Dress.  And then made some super comfy Baby Bear Joggers for her bottoms.

Lincoln out-handsomed the real Poe.  I didn’t even know it was possible.  GAH!

I used the YoHo Henley and appliquéd a faux-vest on top…also full of top-stitched lines to give that puff jacket look a little.  And then of course I added the little HTV Alliance logo to his vest piece.  Poe’s bottoms were the Pirate Playground Pants, with some added cargo pockets to the side.  His outfit was the easiest of the three!

Louis became a mini-Finn with three pieces to his outfit.  His cardigan is hands-down my favorite piece.  I used the Cpt. Mack Cardigan and added extra details to create that iconic jacket.  My favorite is the pintucked sleeves…beside the fact that it got really thick to sew through, I just die over that detail.

Finn’s outfit is pretty basic, so I upped it a little more than just plain black pants.  I used the Baby Bear Joggers and added a stripe detail just above the knee.  I also took the YoHo Henley and printed one of Finn’s best quotes on the front of it.  Because everyone knows that Louis is a “big deal in the resistance”.

I forget how spoiled I am with Louis and his modeling.  He’s such a breeze to photograph.  But then I put three kiddos in one spot and expected it to go just as easily.  Not so much, haha.  But they did such a great job.  Outtakes and silly faces and everything else that came along with it.
